Frank........just had our weekly stadium workout yesterday and Kirk happened to join us. I mentioned this thread and his 100 x 100s 20 years back......interesting to hear that the "hardest/worst" set from those days was a 3 hour swim for distance (yards) where he cranked out 17,000!!
He's passing on natonals this May but look to him for an impressive swim in the 1500 at worlds this year!
Happy New years all!
" What is your fastest interval for 5x100s (scy)?"
Are you talking about swum ever or currently swimming this interval?..........
Oh BTW HAPPY NEW YEARS !!!!!!!!!!!!!
...why doesn't someone pose a manly metric challenge? The metric system met its doom over here a couple of centuries ago. It's really ironic that we Americans drive big cars and swim in compact pools though.
How about just adding eight seconds per hundred to provide a fair comparison?...and women are included too :)
The big pools nowadays tend to be 25 meters wide by 50 meters long...plus a diving tank. They most often have two bulkheads which allow for short course yards in the center...with the diving area on one end...and room for the herds of water joggers on other.
If these facilities weren't so insanely expensive to operate.... there would probably be more of them.
I haven't been in a 25 meter pool that was built after 1990. Are they even building 25 meter pools in the US anymore? Olympic pools tend to be 50 meters X 25 yards.
As usual my evil twin neglects to share the entire story........last week we went:
500 warm up
5 x 100 @ 1:30 (kick, drill, kick, swim by 25s)
4 x 300 @ 3:45 (evil twin decended to 3:06)
2x the following:
2 x 50 @ 2:00 (from a dive)
2 x 100 @ 1:30 recover
John........holding 22s on all 4 50's means the wind is out of your sales......??!! Give us all a break!!

The way I have been feling lately, I would need a sail attached to my back with a 50 mph gail force to do that. Slowly making my long awaited comeback...
