The meaning of swimming

(I somehow lost my post in the middle of reviewing it--sorry if this ends up posted twice! Now let's see if I can remember what I wrote.) I was talking with a friend about swimming and she said she started "swimming for life" x number of years ago. I got the sense that she meant that it was more than a good workout--it kept her "alive." I have to admit that it has that kind of effect for me, too. At the risk of sounding too new-agey, it's nourishing in more than a physical sense. What does swimming mean to you? How does that compare to other sports or activities you do? How does that meaning influence your goals and performance?

So I made it. I survived my first open water swim. The water was soo warm, I couldn't believe it. The worst part was the weeds. They kept coming up and rubbing against your legs and stuff. ICK!! I saw a shadow when I was swimming over this big patch of weeds that I am almost positive was a fish....so I swam faster. I ended up finishing first in 5:54. So now I've done one and I can go back to my pool.

Hi, Sonic here! It's been a long time since I've posted, so I've decided to bump this thread, since it's my favorite one. How many of you are "Weird Al" Yankovic fans? How many of you own a copy of his latest album, Poodle Hat? If you've heard his quick-paced original, "Hardware Store" than boy do I have a treat for you! I am planning on recording my latest parody, "Long-Course" in the tune of "Hardware Store"! Once it is complete, I will post it here in the forums for all of the swimmers in the house to listen to! Sonic that's awesome!!! I'm glad you're back!! Weird-Al is great. If you're going to make song parodies (sp) there isn't a better person to parody than Weird-Al. Can't wait to hear it!!

So far, so good. I've completed the fast-paced bridge of the song and am revising the lyrics to perfection! I WILL post it when it's ready.

I've decided to post my first official swimming parody, which also happens to be track one on my album. Blocks and Lanes This is parodying "Rocks and Trees" by a Canadian novelty group, called the Arrogant Worms. Disclaimer: You may only have this for 24 hours, then it must be deleted from your computer immidiately. I am going to press this on CD when I'm finished with my debut album.
