(I somehow lost my post in the middle of reviewing it--sorry if this ends up posted twice! Now let's see if I can remember what I wrote.)
I was talking with a friend about swimming and she said she started "swimming for life" x number of years ago. I got the sense that she meant that it was more than a good workout--it kept her "alive." I have to admit that it has that kind of effect for me, too. At the risk of sounding too new-agey, it's nourishing in more than a physical sense.
What does swimming mean to you? How does that compare to other sports or activities you do? How does that meaning influence your goals and performance?

It's good to see our regulars again! Lord knows I haven't seen Swimmy in a while and not reading her poetry has left me sort of blue.
Welcome Back, Swimmy and Newmastersswimmer. Glad to see some old friends again.
For me swimming is a head cleaner. It allows me to process everything that is going on in my life. While I am swimming, I come up with some incredible ideas. These are either ideas that I can explore either personally or professionally. My creativity explodes during swimming. Amazing!
Oh, everyone does like to whine!
"I don't want THEM near my lap line!"
"They don't even try to flip"
" ***, Fly and Back they want to skip!"
"Real swimmers don't need lots of toys!"
.......SO MUCH NOISE!
Think about all that we share,
Love of the pool and chlorinated hair.
Swimmers and Triathletes unite!
Let's have a group hug and stop the fight!
Swimmy :)
I thought I'd post a self-tribute type thing, since I'll be attending my frist swim meet on Saturday!
Get in the water and compete!
It's your very first Swim Meet!
It's the day you've longed for
since starting again in 2004
getting on that numbered block
will surely make this day rock
Ahhh, the rushing feel of your first race...
God I hope I win first place! :p
What would Masters be like without a good Swim Meet?
No one to talk to, no one to race, or compete?
"No!" I say!
Can't wait for "Game Day!"
So here's to Masters Swim Meets!
MAN I love to Compete!
I might've meantioned attending my first swim meet in the past, only to be disappointed with the fact of transportation problems, but this is the REAL DEAL! I WILL be attending my first Swim Meet (already registered!!) this Saturday!
Thanks! I'm going to need it!
I have to miss out on my workout today because my dad's laptop needs to be reformatted. *sigh* It hurts me, but I'm going to have to help out my dad, rather than go swimming.
As for the turnout of the meet, I've promised Mark in MD that I'd tell everyone here how it turned out.
