I did not know that USMS does not belong to USADA. Rumor mill speculates that a percentage (small? large?) of masters records (FINA, USMS) were set by athletes on performance enhancing drugs (PEDs).
If Lance is booted from USMS then everyone else who ever tested positive for PEDs should also be booted. Personally I don't think USMS needs to go down that path.
He must be swimming with the Longhorn Masters? Wendy Hedgepeth is the coach?
Lance doesn't train with Longhorn Masters. He swims at Rollingwood
If Lance wants to swim USMS, let him. I hope USMS won't join in with the many other orgs who are going to punish and sanction him.
I'm sure there are many masters who if tested, would test positive. I'd imagine many take prescribed scripts that are on the banned list, I'd think most are given without the swimmer telling the doc, would you give me XYZ so I can swim faster. Plus there's many anti aging clinics all across the country providing easy access to HGH & testesterone. We've all seen some remarkably fit swimmers & some age defying athletes might raise questions. I think full testing is expensive and not a cost that USMS or FINA wants to bear or even pass through for Masters swimming.
Hormones needed for anti-aging

But isn't his lifetime ban due in part to the egregious nature of his doping? Though I get your point that under USMS's vague standards, anyone who has tested positive could theoretically be subject to a grievance proceeding.
Does anyone think Lance has stopped doping now that he is past his TDF years? I don't. I think he would have carried on doping (or did) in his ironman tri pursuits.
Did anyone read the Both Sides of the Lane Line issue on testing for PEDs in masters? I was kind of shocked by Jeff Erwin's contention that USADA says you can't put on muscle mass past 30 without PEDS. I thought that was directly contrary to research.
Who cares if Lance goes to a Masters meet? I certainly don't.
A small percentage of masters actually swim in meets, but swimmers join because teams require it for insurance purposes.
Who cares? Masters swimming is a ridiculous charade anyway. Techsuits, anyone? Until they're banned by USMS everything's a farce.
What charade? What are you talking about? Masters swimmers wear the same suits as USS swimmers. I think there was only one season, SCY 2010, when masters wore the full body rubber tech suits that had been banned. I hardly call what we're wearing now "tech suits."

Uh ... Under which rock have you been living?
Pardon my transgression - I must have missed where they were banned.
It doesn't change the fact that Masters meets are still a ridiculous charade.
If you missed that they were banned, then you haven't been competing in any masters meets and wouldn't know.
They're supposedly a "ridiculous charade" because triathletes attend? (According to your edit of prior post)

How, exactly? Yes there is a wide range of ability levels represented at masters meets. Some people compete in masters purely to have fun. Others take it very seriously. I see no problem with either approach.
