I did not know that USMS does not belong to USADA. Rumor mill speculates that a percentage (small? large?) of masters records (FINA, USMS) were set by athletes on performance enhancing drugs (PEDs).

If so then Lance wins Diversion of the Decade, well that is until Hillary's inauguration gets interrupted by Stephen Hawking singlehandedly fighting off an alien invasion
How's that for creating a diversion in a failthread?Diversion 2…
People have asked “What’s the best way to deal with Trolls?”
Option 1 – Don’t feed then and they usually go away.
Option 2 – Add them to your Ignore List
For Option 2 – 1) Click on Settings (upper right side of this page), 2) Scroll down to and click Edit Ignore List (on left), 3) Enter the troll’s User Name, then press Okay.
Did anyone read the Both Sides of the Lane Line issue on testing for PEDs in masters? I was kind of shocked by Jeff Erwin's contention that USADA says you can't put on muscle mass past 30 without PEDS. I thought that was directly contrary to research.
You can gain muscle mass through resistance training at any age. That is well documented in the literature.

I think would have gone with a "Not Sure If..." meme, myself.
You’ve got a point, the last 24 hours in the sports world have been like a crazy memefest.
A wild Lance Armstrong appears!
Lance uses Celebrity Apology Tour!
It’s not very effective!

If someone's 40 years old and taking Masters swimming very seriously, they have issues.
love this quote! so i'm stuck in a dead end job that has zero sense of accomplishment - so i go to practice 3 to 4 times a week, train hard, have goals and want to improve to get some sort of good feeling in my life and according to you, i have "issues"?!?! would i get physically violent to any extent during a swim meet for any reason? no - because 99.9% of masters swimmers are there to enjoy themselves and they want YOU to have fun too. given, i have only been participating in masters for the last 2 years, but i have yet to encounter ANYONE who makes a swim meet an unpleasent event just because they can.
you can take the sport seriously without simultaneously taking yourself too seriously. I think you need to come back to more Masters meets.
Absolutely!
Racing is fun, seriously fun.
You don't have to worry about the lap swimmer tri, just practice on your own.
Dude, that's a way too harsh of a comment.
I (and I imagine many other masters swimmers) swim for health, enjoyment, and friendship.
Why do you call masters swimming a charade?
Is something someone does for health, enjoyment, and friendship a ridiculous charade?
Your comment right up there with Schubert calling USMS a "glorified losers round."
There's plenty of way worse things that people do with their time and money.
Thank you, Ande, for telling Rain Man exactly what I was thinking. Masters swimming has been a life-changing experience for me that has made these past three years so much happier for me. "...health, enjoyment, and friendship." EXACTLY! :applaud::bliss:
