September 2012 - Minor Updates Great stuff! The Streamlines newsletters call out cool swimming websites; I think the time has come to recognize the swimming web sites that continue to honor the spirit of the mid-90's. Typical characteristics:
HTML written in a text editor
Page title is a placeholder like "Home" or "Untitled"
horrible background graphics
Comic Sans (yeah, I went there)
has not been updated since... umm...
You get the idea, so without further ado, the Zone and LMSC finalist web sites:

Any time you want to take a trip back to the epoch when Netscape roamed the earth, that list will have you off and running in no time. Tune in next week when we count down the top 5 most incomprehensible Team Unify club sites!

Ah, I remember those days well. Some suggestions for tiebreakers:
-- lots of animated gifs:banana:
-- fonts in different colors
-- music that plays when the website opens
-- liberal use of frames
Bummed your LMSC is too with it to make this list? Have no fear - the Geocitiesizer can help. You're welcome, Pacific NW! :bolt:
it's... beautiful...

there are quite a few LMSC sites that still use frames. Some are quite hideous, but to make the finals in this category, a horrible background image turned out to be required. Nothing else causes the same response from the nervous system...
I think nelmsc.org wins the title, now that I've had some time to reflect on it. That web site is just AWFUL.

I had a Geocities site way back when. I went for the "upload your own HTML" option. Written in a text editor, of course :D. By today's standards, very dated and boring, but much less annoying (at least to me).
So much fun to look back on that stuff. Great post. How about a Way-Back-Machine for SWIMMER Magazine? The archive only goes to 2005? How long have they been publishing it. www.usmsswimmer.com/issue.php I'd like to have entire collection of SWIMMER.

This thread is reminding me that I said I'd have our club website done by next week. Clearly, I was not procrastinating, just waiting for inspiration. Time to fire up the text editor...
