  • How can it be a false start when the reaction time is +.79? I'm guessing he never stopped moving prior to the buzzer going off.

  • Yup. Reaction time is the time from the start to when the feet leave the blocks. It's not the time to the first movement. This suggests that the swimmer may have flinched significantly, may have even recoiled backwards, and then started. We had a DQ in a double-dual meet two weeks ago in the 1000 free on a false start, dual-confirmed by the referee and the starter. -Rick
  • Elizabeth Beisel posted 3:58.35 for her 400 IM. Just missed the record. That should be a great race at NCAA's! At the Big Ten meet Alyssa Vavra of Indiana swam a 4:01 so she could be in the mix, but I think it will be a battle between Beisel, Hosszu and Leverenz.
  • Matt Kredich, UT womens coach, was named SEC women's coach of the year. www.utladyvols.com/.../completeresults.html Kredich is a tremendous coach. I know UT has totally separate men's and women's athletic departments but he would be ideal for running both swim teams. He's a hot commodity.
