UT swims next week but several conference championships are next week.
SwimmingWorld will cover it too
Matt Kredich, UT womens coach, was named SEC women's coach of the year.
Nice work. It can't be easy to recruit for a school where you will be known as a "Lady Vol."
Kredich is a tremendous coach. I know UT has totally separate men's and women's athletic departments but he would be ideal for running both swim teams. He's a hot commodity.
I agree, he's done a great job overcoming the handicap of his alma mater. He also did a great job at U of Richmond before leaving for Tennessee.
What strange hormones are they putting in collegiate waters these days?
Unbelievable times. It makes you feel like you are from a separate and decidedly inferior species.
ten men's swimming programs on one hand  Please post pix of this amazing hand. Are you able to pull more water than other swimmers? Are you in the Guinness Book of World Records?
the university has to add women's sport programs, but has to keep the football program competitive because it makes the money. By doing that, they have to get rid of other programs.Just another urban legend…
Most college football programs do not make money. Some appear profitable because of alumni financial support and endowments and some because of television revenue. However, without the huge monetary boost from outside dollars almost all major college football programs would be deficit leaders.
We are seeing more college swim teams adopting this model of seeking endowment and alumni support to turn the sport more profitable, but it has a long way to go.
Colleges do NOT “have to get rid of other programs” they can work to keep and expand varsity and club offerings. But they need to be willing to work.
