For those of you who use swim masks I have the following questions. 1. Which are the best ones? 2. Does it give more resistance when you swim? 3. Do you feel any difference between a swim mask and goggles? 4. Why did you switch to a swim mask?
  • Most swimmers use goggles instead of MASKS 1. Which are the best ones? no clue 2. Does it give more resistance when you swim? probably 3. Do you feel any difference between a swim mask and goggles? yes, it's bound to be more bulky, harder to dive in wearing a mask 4. Why did you switch to a swim mask? I never have, unless for skin diving. but I prefer goggles For those of you who use swim masks I have the following questions. 1. Which are the best ones? 2. • 1. Which are the best ones? I use aqua sphere, it fits me well, I like it and would recommend it IF it fits your face. I can't comment on best. 2. Does it give more resistance when you swim? Probably, but it's not something I worry about... I make up for it with amazing talent (LOL). 3. Do you feel any difference between a swim mask and goggles? Yes, when I breath to my weak side, sometimes (rarely) I'll get a leak because of facial contortions - I figure the seal is covering more surface area and is susceptible to that kind of thing. It's not a big problem due to the increased volume - I can have a bunch of water in them and still not be bothered, in fact it helps keep them fog free with a little water moving around in them. 4. Why did you switch to a swim mask? I use is exclusively for practice and open water swims. I wouldn't try diving off blocks with it. I haven't had problems pushing off the wall... I guess that's when I notice increased resistance, but the seal holds even though I keep my strap very loose for comfort.
  • I have a couple Aquasphere Vista masks. I like the fact that they don't leave goggle marks around my eyes. I am a 55 year old female, my skin is much less reseilient than in it's younger years and my goggles marks stay for most of the day. I will say it takes a couple laps to get used to the change in depth perception caused by the mask. Also my mask lost its seal after about 6 months. I'm not sure why. I still use traditional goggles for racing (pool and ow) or faster effort practices.

I agree with the previous post. Aquasphere goggles are the best. They don't feel like they suck your eyes out. I got mine at All American Swim. They always have great prices and selection. www.allamericanswim.com/aqua-sphere-seal-xp-clear-lens-goggle-p-6318.html
  • Try loosening the strap. I wear mine very loose unless I need to dive. If you have increased your time in the water it could cause what used to be okay to be too tight.

My goggles are causing numbness in my forehead. I have been swimming 3-4 times a week for the past year this is a new problem. Any suggestions?
  • Goggles giving me a headache, my new aquasphere do not seal well enough. leak when pushing off the wall. Any suggestions? I had the same problem when I used to use Aquasphere. Try applying Vaseline to the skin around your eyes for better suction and to help protect your skin from irritation. It also helps to have the strap go around the crown of your head, rather than lower down. Finally put your cap on over your Aquasphere for a better fit. Good luck!
  • Goggles giving me a headache, my new aquasphere do not seal well enough. leak when pushing off the wall. Any suggestions? Make sure you are streamlined totally when pushing off the wall. I can swim with loose goggles if I bury my head between my arms. When I get sloppy and let my head ride too high my goggles leak on turns. It's really a pretty great training aid for head positioning.
