For those of you who use swim masks I have the following questions. 1. Which are the best ones? 2. Does it give more resistance when you swim? 3. Do you feel any difference between a swim mask and goggles? 4. Why did you switch to a swim mask?

  • 1. Which are the best ones? I use aqua sphere, it fits me well, I like it and would recommend it IF it fits your face. I can't comment on best. 2. Does it give more resistance when you swim? Probably, but it's not something I worry about... I make up for it with amazing talent (LOL). 3. Do you feel any difference between a swim mask and goggles? Yes, when I breath to my weak side, sometimes (rarely) I'll get a leak because of facial contortions - I figure the seal is covering more surface area and is susceptible to that kind of thing. It's not a big problem due to the increased volume - I can have a bunch of water in them and still not be bothered, in fact it helps keep them fog free with a little water moving around in them. 4. Why did you switch to a swim mask? I use is exclusively for practice and open water swims. I wouldn't try diving off blocks with it. I haven't had problems pushing off the wall... I guess that's when I notice increased resistance, but the seal holds even though I keep my strap very loose for comfort.
