I am not only new to the site but have not been in the water for over 12 years and over that time have added some pounds !!!! looking for a workout that can get me back in shape so I can shave a few lbs... Any help would be great !!!!

there are a lot of great web sites out there that have swim workouts posted, including this web site. I was just like you, been out of the water about 25 years, but am slowly getting back into shape. Look at these sites.

I started back after almost 20 years out of the water. I joined a masters swim club. There is no way I would push myself like I do with the rest of the team.

:drown: I am also rejoining competetive swimming after 34 years out of the pool. I will swim the 1500 meters on Fri Dec 7. I though I read somewhere that we can start that distance from in the pool, Is that so?
How's your ankle flexibility?
This is the first area I would train... Increasing the range of motion allows your feet to "hold" more water, changing your body position, and making swimming much easier...
If you're interested I can give you some good dryland exercises to improve ankle flexibility.
