Better start training more/harder/smarter/etc. :)
Working on it. First I have to get back to pushing off with 2 feet. Right ankle is still not supposed to push off.
I'm surprised no one swam against her. If I lived in Cali and knew she was swimming, I would have entered just to say I swam against her.
Almost 10 years ago, Tom Dolan was supposed to be in my heat of the 400 im at US Open, but he scratched. Very disappointing! I find those sorts of things really fun.
I'm guessing once they found out who they were up against, they decided to give her center stage.
More likely: pre-meet sign-ups were light, as they sometimes are for early-season meets, and as they might be in the first year a meet is held; plus, it was a cool day with unseasonal rain. The 800, the last race of the day, was followed by one heat of the 1500, which had four swimmers. Earlier in the day, she swam the 400 free with five others - including 52-year-old Brian Goodell, who swam 4:44 behind her 4:23.
For now, the plan is to compete in another masters meet and then decide whether to go to Nationals in August at Palo Alto.
I guess that rules out Auburn :(

According to this article, 2 elderly swimmers scratched - I'm guessing once they found out who they were up against, they decided to give her center stage. Had I known she would be on her own, I would have gone, only to be able to say "I got beat by Janet Evans." She would have lapped me about 9 times but hey, I would have been happy to be swimming alongside her. I started swimming in the summer of 92 - watching her in the Olympics made me want to swim and she's the reason I swim to this day. :agree:

No female (and only a few men), in any age group, can give her a run in those two events just based off the times she put up.....so you can pretty much assume US Nationals.
