2011 USMS Summer LCM Nationals in Auburn, AL

The 2011 USMS Summer LCM Nationals RESULTS Aug 3 - 6, 2011 at Auburn University in Auburn, AL MAP Order of Events Qualifying Times Aquatic Center Hotels Visitors Guide Auburn Masters Swim Team Auburn University Women's & Men's Swimming & Diving ARE you going? What suit are you going to rock in your races? TIPS One of the masters swimmers I train with went to Auburn, this morning I asked him "How do you get to Auburn?" He said fly into Atlanta then drive 2 hours to Auburn. He added if you do this, one thing you want to be aware of is Atlanta is on Eastern Time & Auburn is on Central time so when you drive from: Atlanta to Auburn you subtract an hour & Auburn to Atlanta you add an hour.
  • Another good show! I love going to Nationals and haven't missed one since I started swimming in 2005 at age 59. Ttis time I scored 5 seconds and a third and I'm feeling mighty proud at this moment. But most of all I leave having witnessed amazing feats by others, including the elderly, the truly talented, and the totally courageous. I always depart a better person. Also must report that Lumpy is completely recognizable in person. I know there were numerous regulars out there, but I only was able to meet Lump up close and personal. Leslie, I know you were there, but missed you this time. (met you in Boston).....great swims once again. Anyway, once again I walk away with so many great memories, including the knowledge that what we do is not all about swimming. It's about character, hard work, and the desire to be the best that we can be. This is all about the USMS experience and I feel honored to share the experience with so many like minded people!
  • Allen buried Robert Wright on the last turn. That was really the difference in the race. Interesting contrast in styles between the two of them!
  • The weather cooperated nicely which kept the outdoor pool open until the very end of the meet. It was warm but not too hot. The outdoor pool was awesome for warming up. There was a small walk to get there but the lanes rarely had more than 3 people in them. It let me warm up at whatever speed I wanted without running into anyone or being in anyone's way. It was also nice to get out in some fresh air an sunshine. Thanks to all who put their valuable time in to making this a memorable Nationals! I started a little tradition for myself of staying on a bit longer in the nationals host town. So nice to stroll around leisurely and enjoy the local flavor. If at all possible I try to make the club's Monday masters workout. I never got out to the outdoor warmup pool, so I'm happy the Auburn Masters coach gave me a thumbs up to join their workout -outside tomorrow! WAR EAGLE!

:applaud::applaud::applaud: Great job, Jeff! I just watched the entire slide show from today and you did an AWESOME job! Thanks so much for getting such great shots of everybody from Anne Dunivin ("Anne with an E", our 95 year old teammate) to Roderick, on his 50 free. I was surprised to see you even got me in a breaststroke sequence and on the blocks before my 50 free. Thanks! Bruce shoots video of my races, however, I have never seen any still shots, so thanks for getting some during the meet. And, thanks for getting shots I would have liked to have gotten, however, Bruce had my camera up in the stands! You really did an outstanding job with your photography. :D No problem! I had a great time shooting folks while I had downtime (a lot of it between my events)!
  • Ditto to all this. And it was nice meeting you in person, Elaine. Thanks, Chris; you, too! And, congratulations on your WORLD RECORD! :applaud: I wish I had gotten that swim on video...
  • Thanks so much, Peter! How cool that you got the one race we didn't. I sure appreciate it! Not sure why I decided to video that race but I'm glad I did. I love Roger's commentary... "Come on Elaine! Get on the wall... don't breathe!" Sounds all too familiar. Here's Leslie's world record swim... at least the first half of it. You can still see her kick wash at the end. ‪colettem 50bk‬‏ - YouTube
  • Thanks, Pete. I posted your movie on Leslie's facebook page. I am sure she will appreciate it.

  • Here are a couple other records I managed to capture: Steve Wood (M50-54) - 100 Back ‪rogerv 100bk‬‏ - YouTube 1 Wood, Steve 51 BLU 1:06.99 1:01.89N 11.00 30.20 1:01.89(31.69) If anyone knows him, pass it along. Emile Ewing (W 18-24) - 50 Back ‪emilee_50bk.3gp‬‏ - YouTube 1 Ewing, Emile C 24 AMS 34.00 30.84N 11.00 In perhaps the lone gridge match of the week, Emile and I bet each other a bag of Dave's M&M's against our *** stroke relay swim times. She had already swum a 35.71 in an earlier relay and my 50 *** stroke time from the previous day was 37.04. I clearly needed to dig deep but chocolate was on the line and I managed a 36.06 to make it interesting. Alas, Emile is a machine and cranked out yet another 35.71.
  • Not sure why I decided to video that race but I'm glad I did. I love Roger's commentary... "Come on Elaine! Get on the wall... don't breathe!" Sounds all too familiar. :D I really tried to go the entire race with only a few breaths, but I was so pooped out by the end, it looks like I completely ran out of gas by the time I got within 15 meters of the wall. :censor: How cool of Roger to cheer me on. You guys were terrific! :agree:
