Is anyone live blogging the Trials anywhere? Can't launch the Omega Timing Live Results Java app at work.
Looks like Soni and Larson both went under Soni's old Olympic Trials record.
Do swimmers taper differently depending on whether or not they expect to go on to the Olympics (versus aiming more specifically at just doing well in the trials)? Or do all swimmers need to somehow aim/taper for both the trials and the Olympics?
Just wondering how that works.
The following swimmers have officially qualified for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team
What's interesting is, at this point, it only lists 1st pace finishers, they are following the policy described in 2012 Olympic Games Athlete Selection Procedures
Lochte scratched the 100 back semi after posting 53.92 in prelims. That time doesn't seem likely to earn him a medley relay spot.

Nick Brunelli and Jacob Pebley tied for 17th and thus move up to 16th, which would normally position them for a swimoff. Tonight's heat sheet just went up and it lists Pebley in the 16 slot and Brunelli as the first alternate. So Brunelli must have declined the swimoff and gave the younger swimmer a shot. Which was very nice of him. Does anyone know if that's really what happened?

Edit: the swimswam article got updated with this bit:
Nick Brunelli ceded his 17th-place tie with Jacob Pebley for the 100 back semifinal, so the young future Cal Bear will get a big second opportunity.
