The 2008 Olympic Trials turned me into a fan of Katie, so I feel really bad for her here.
I'm both happy and sad for Janet. I know this wasn't her focus event so I'll hold out hope that we at least get to see her in the televised final of the 800.
Brunelli missed the 100 Back Semis by .06, out of heat 8. Great swim!
True but USMS member Adam Mania made the semi in 14th placed with a time of 55.31 and will be swimming tonight. So USMS had 3 swimmers in this event today to match the 3 swimmers yesterday in the 100 *** with Mania, Brunelli, and Doak.
Becca Mann - 14 year old from Clearwater Florida - has been fun to watch. She took 5 th in the 400 IM last evening and made finals in the 400 free today. She just keeps on going.

Big time PB for Larson, does she have more in the tank?

First there was Jeremy Lin(n)-sanity (the swimmer and the basketball player) now we've got Adam Mania!

Wouldn't be surprised if Larson has a little bit more in the tank. Her SCY performances have been really excellent, and it seems like the transition to the bigger pool is going well.

2 fly or 2 back...he should make one of those. what if he gets 3rd in 4 different events?
I think he has a strong chance of making the team in one of those two events.
Don't forget the 1972 Larson/Mckee race - larson got the gold, but they were tied to the hundreths (and maybe even the thousandth), they went to a standard/degree of differentiation that is no longer applied - I'm told that at a certain point, minute variations in individual lane length (not all lanes of a pool are precisely identical in length when measured to the nth degree) become material enough to cause a minute time variation, so now they only distinguish finsih order to the 100th
Now how many have won gold by 0.01 seconds? There were 2 in 2008.
