The next Canadian Masters Swimming Championships will be held 5/20/2011 to 5/23/2011 in Montreal. I believe it will be SCM.
Unfortunately the Masters Swimming Canada site has very little information on the meet as yet. I would like to correspond with someone who knows more details, including venue, which events are on which dates, event order, etc.
Any ideas? Thanks!
That would be fantastic timing, 5-6 weeks before LCM Nats in Omaha.
Exactly...that way you could shave/taper for the Canadian Nationals :canada:, and save your money that you would've blown on the Omaha trip and... :bolt: hehehe
The Canadian Masters Swimming Championships in Montreal were a barrel of fun! (If occasionally "un petit peu" behind schedule.) Maine Masters had a nice quorum, with Diann's great swims, a number of firsts and seconds for others, and we had some relay fun as well. The hosts were very hospitable, and I met a number of interesting Canadian swimmers. Someone there mentioned that they thought the World Masters Swimming Championships in 2014 might be in Montreal, in the outdoor 50m pool. I'll look for it. I love the city.

Nationals were in Nanaimo, BC in 2010 with the same limit of 600 people. The meet filled up about 1 week before the entry deadline and there were no restrictions on swimmers from outside of Canada. There aren't that many people living in Western Canada so I don't think it is an issue.
I go the the Canadian masters website a few times a week to log how far I swam for our equivalent of GTD (Million Metre Challenge). When the meet website is setup I will post a link.
Isn't kelowna where ice road trucker hugh rowland lives?

Good to hear. I'm penciling this meet in. A five hour drive to Kelowna sounds more appealing than a cross-country flight and three hour time change to Greensboro, NC for US Nationals.

Ditto. Last night I put together a very speculative but potentially freaking awesome meet schedule for the fall-winter-spring leading up to Omaha LCM Nats. All of these are within reasonable driving distance (except Omaha, which I'm fine with). If only half of this schedule actually happens, I'll be happy. Notice that only one of these is SCY.
October: Multnomah SCM, Vancouver SCM, Kelowna SCM
November: Whidbey Island SCM?, Nanaimo SCM?
Fall sometime: NW SCM Zones in Oregon somewhere (see page 11)
January: Anacortes SCM?
February: Vancouver SCM?
March: Coeur d'Alene SCM?, Victoria LCM?
April: PNA Championships SCY? (Federal Way)
May: Hood River SCM?, CMSC2012 LCM (Kelowna)
June: LCM Meet Somewhere? (Tacoma in 2008, T-Hills in 2009 & 2010, and Corvallis in 2011)
July: Omaha LCM Nats
Kelowna would be a great place for a meet, but I wonder if since they're going to cap it at 600 swimmers they will give precedence to Canadians?

Arthur - if/when you see more info on this, we'd appreciate it if you post it to the Events Forum.

How were those outside lanes? I heard there were *gasp* bare walls. :bolt:
Yes, they were actually bare walls. However, the sides had wide drain troughs and the water was about one inch below the level of the drain troughs (well a little less as the days went by), so it wasn't as bad as you might think. I lucked out and had every event in the middle somewhere. I did however have more of a problem with the tees at the end of the lane. There was only one end of the two pools that had the tee at about the right place. The moveable barrier had no tee on either side, and one end of the two pools was about 3 meters out. On the good side it was a deep pool all the way.
