If my times on a set of 100s on 1:30 is 1:18 consistently, what should I expect to actually swim in a 1650? My best time thus far is a 21:56. Thanks!
I did the math and if you can consistently swim 1:18 per 100, you would do a 21:45 for a 1650, so it sounds like you're right on the money.
who knows?
hard to figure out how broken swims translate into a time for a straight swim in a meet
everybody is different
I suggest you go to practice or a meet
warm up well, rest 20 or 30 minutes then
swim a fast 1650 for time
have a counter & a timer getting splits & your final time

I agree with Ande. Without knowing how hard you're pushing your 100 repeats it's difficult to know. You should probably be able to hold a faster pace in a race, but hard to say how much. If I had to guess I think you could hold a 1:15-1:18 pace in a race, so that means 20:37-21:27.

21:27 actually. 78*16.5 = 1287 seconds = 21.45 minutes = 21:27.
Are you tapered? Are you training specifically FOR the 1650? What are you doing as complimentary training?
Different results for different people indeed! But you can expect some consistency! What race is this for?

Hey, I was close! I said I did the math, I didn't guarantee it was right (I forgot to convert the .45 minutes to seconds). :bolt:
