Kita went 59.04 in the prelims of the 100 *** - wow! Will we see a sub 59 in the finals?
It was nice to see Ziegler back in form!
The swim of the night, IMO, and the interview was nice too. I can't believe they cut away during the 800, though; it's only 8 minutes long, for crying out loud.
I enjoyed the 100 back race, didn't you know Piersol would pull it out? Also slightly gratifying to see that we old folks aren't the only ones who have trouble swimming straight in the outdoors. (Thoman would probably have had the fastest time of the night if he hadn't run into the laneline so badly. He was flying on that back half.)
Lochte's walls were impressive, nice job to set a PR in jammers.
Lochte is certainly an amazing swimmer, but I almost hate for him to win because his post-race interviews are so painful. Spicoli from "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" anyone?
How about Rebecca Soni's 104.93 in 100m breaststroke? :applaud:
Meanwhile, will somebody pleeeeeeze put a muzzle on the mouth of that guy with the microphone in the stands??? I had enough of him during the U.S. Championships and now he's baaaaack. :bitching: The countdown gets old, doesn't it? :blah:
As the athletes walked out for the men's 4x200 relay, they played The Final Countdown. I'm hoping it was a promise of things to come, rather than a sporting event cliche that has been :dedhorse::dedhorse::dedhorse::dedhorse::dedhorse::dedhorse:. Great swims tonight by Team USA. The Australian anchor glided into the finish in the aforementioned relay, costing them the silver. Ouch! (And a good strong finish by the Japanese anchor!)

Bummer, looks like Kate Z held back a little too much if her last 50 was any indication:

She was 4:10-low on the last 400 of her 800, so I would think she would go a little faster than 4:08, even as a prelim swim.
