swam my first ever 1hr postal this morning and was able to do 5,000. It was actually kinda fun, but I admit, I kinda got bored after the first mile. How does distance stack up for a 43yr old?
  • I did 4525 yards this morning. Although one guy said that my counter (a tall coach at the Mesa pool) miscounted and I did more, but said counter did get splashed plenty. This was my first time, and I beat my goal. More info to follow later today in my blog.

  • WOW , I have a long way to go to make it into the top 50 !:badday:
  • I'm 39 though, so Greg doesn't need to worry about me. The one you really don't want to look at is what Mike Shaffer did last year. 5,910 yards! Holy crap!!!!!!!! That's a 1:06/100 pace for an HOUR???????? :afraid:  :applaud:
  • Swam my 1HP today. I am sore! I shouldn't be, but I am. I started getting calf cramps in my left leg with 8 minutes to go. I swam it off over a 100. I sprinted the last 3 minutes, and I could feel both legs cramping at that point. While it is a boring swim, it wasn't as bad as last year. I found myself counting my strokes with each lap. When I started to fatigue, my stroke count started to increase by 1, then 2. When I noticed it, I tried to stretch out more and glide. That seemed to help return to my normal cadence, which also meant better flip turns and breathing. All in all, glad to be finished. I beat my yardage from last year by 175, so I am happy. 12 months until the next one. Well, what'd you get to? Did you swim it with Erwin and Kevin Everett?
  • Holy crap!!!!!!!! That's a 1:06/100 pace for an HOUR???????? you might want to recalculate that. It's actually a hair under 1:01/100.

  • I timed for Kevin, Kira timed for Jeff. I swam the second hour, and got 4650. I think Jeff got 57XX. I know he added 300+/- from last year when I timed him. Kevin did not exceed his yardage from last week. He said he could feel it. He over-trained this week, which didn't help him yesterday. How'd you do last week? I feel like I need to get in the pool today and swim this soreness off. Great job Alex! I assume that you had to swim alone in the second heat since I noticed that Kira posted on FB that she was going to swim it today? That's too bad; it's nice to swim with someone to share your misery ;-) Also a bummer that Kevin didn't beat his yardage last week. I know that he really wanted to break 5600. Swimming that race two weeks in a row would be brutal though. And, well, Jeff's just amazing! I did okay. Around my average since I started participating in the event. I've gone more yards but also fewer, so I can't complain (5070). I was on pace to go 5100 at the 30 minute mark, but I couldn't hold onto it, oh well. I would really like to swim it with both you and Kira. I think that we'd be good for each other. Maybe in 2011?
  • I did my Hour Swim on Thursday. I'm sure glad I did it Thursday and didn't wait until the weekend. Everything is closed here due to the winter storm. I can't say that I enjoy the swim, but I have a great feeling of accomplishment when I finish.
