swam my first ever 1hr postal this morning and was able to do 5,000. It was actually kinda fun, but I admit, I kinda got bored after the first mile. How does distance stack up for a 43yr old?

Don't look at Kirk's results, depressing. I'm hoping a 5K distance will be around the 15th spot, give or take.
I put the voodoo curse on chaos, he will think he's in the English Channel and go too slow and only make it to 4998 yards.

Yeah, that's one heck of a swim. I'm soooo glad he's in my age group, and you join me next year, more great news.
i'm tapering for the postal..... only swam 4,000yds yesterday. its going to screw up my 100 mile/january goal.... but wtf?

I didnt really realize this was some type of event that was actually ranked. If I woulda known that I might not have worn a drag suit and stopped 3 times to get a drink. Oh well :)
I did this last week -- I managed 4500. I am, however, a drop dead sprinter and I was very tired after the first twenty minutes. Since I've never done this before, I have plenty of room to improve :). By the way, nice swim last year, Ande!
