  • Julie, I don't know you, but if you like the 400 IM and 500 free, add the 200 free on Friday. The meet will be large enough that there will be plenty of time after the 400 IM before the 200 free and after the 200 free before the 200 back. It'll be a fun triple (it's what I signed up for on Friday). Thanks! I appreciate the advice. But with 200 back as my best event (I think), I am already nervous about having the 400 IM that day and not sure that I want to add anything else! And 200 free would be way easier to scratch than some random event on Saturday. I think I'll go with 100 free/50 back on Saturday. But it's definitely worth considering the 200 free though. I'll put off enterng for a little while longer. See you there!
  • Okay, entered online today. Will be swimming the following - Friday - 200 free, 100 fly Saturday - 50 fly, 200 IM - tough call, 4 events back to back that I like to swim.... Sunday - 100 IM, 200 Br - 100 IM is my 6th event. I'm looking forward to it! --mj
  • There are a few hotels along 10th street near the Midtown Marta station as well. You can catch the Stinger shuttle from the Marta station. I know nothing about the schedule - you could probably find info about it on the Ga Tech website. You can access a webpage with an internet enabled phone that tell you the location and ETA of the Tech Trolley. Go to nextbus.com and navigate to the Georgia Tech Trolley. Bookmark the page and you have instant access to ETA of the next bus to your location. Pretty cool.

I am totally with you on this one. I have having a tough time choosing #5 AND #6. There is NOTHING AT ALL that I want to swim on Saturday and with 400 IM/200 back on Friday and 500 free/100 back on Sunday I definitely don't want to add a 3rd event to those days and I decided not to do a distance event. UGH! Looks like I'll have to choose to embarrass myself with some combination of 100 ***, 100 free or 50 back! Yikes! Why? Why is there this need to fill all six slots? I am swimming 3 events and am wondering if I should have just swam 2. I am not worried about having enough rest, I am worried about if that third event will detract from my enjoyment of nationals.

In other words, you are afraid of getting beat by both geek and wolf in the 200?
  • Why? Why is there this need to fill all six slots? I guess I just always sign up for 6. Since I only swim one meet a year and usually have to travel thousands of miles to do it, I figure I should sign up for my max. It's easy to pick 6 when I can swim both distance events, but since I'm incapable of anything other than freestyle, meets like this year's pose more of a challenge. I'm thinking about possibly doing the 100 fly...
  • Great tip! Thanks no200fly! I realize I'll need to allow plenty of time to travel MARTA and the Trolley..... I spent a good deal of time in Atlanta a year or so ago and I really liked MARTA. Great for getting to and from the airport.
  • Great tip! Thanks no200fly! I realize I'll need to allow plenty of time to travel MARTA and the Trolley, but just knowing where it is will help alleviate pre-meet jitters. Already have the page bookmarked on my Blackberry..... Finally an opportunity for a politically-correct acronym for MARTA: Moving Ammon Rapidly Through Atlanta.

In other words, you are afraid of getting beat by both geek and wolf in the 200? That statement is true, but not why I am only swimming 3 events. The 200 free is the first event on the first day I will be there, so I can't use the "I am le tired" card. I don't want to be too tired for the after party.
