Is it just me or do world records in short course meters lack the prestige of world records in long course? And are the 50's just not as big a deal as the longer races? Maybe I'm just showing my age?
MMMMMM....I have seen Allen turn. His breastroke turns are faster and better than 99% of the people out there. He is fine there.
I agree with him. LCM...even SCM are way better than scy.
Thanks, but unfortunately that 1% includes Bob Strand.I do work on my turns all the time, but I really love LCM!!:banana:
I prefer, in order, LC, SCY, SCM.
SCM is a problem since I can't train at that distance.
I just returned home from the Ron Johnson Invitational Meet at ASU. Have not swum a SCM meet yet this season. And have only trained SC yards since Indy.
Swear... I can not feel the difference between SCY and SCM when I'm racing!
Don't try to accuse me of being in super shape either because thats' not it.
SCM to the USA is about the same interest level as rugby for most people...sadly USMS has not moved to embrace the format by designating a Championship meet....but maybe some day!
Go back a few years and if you have a chance to talk to anyone who swam or attended NCAA's the one time it was held SCM you will here a different opinion...for those that want to measure themselves against the rest of the world that is what "fall/early spring" swimming is all about.
Practice your turns and you won't feel so intimidated at SCY swim meets

At least USMS puts some emphasis on SCM, USA Swimming, in my opinion, seems to be just SCY and LCM. I love the LCM part. But, there really should be a USA Swimming SCM Champs. The Champs in Dec is SCY.

SCM is a problem since I can't train at that distance. In the past, SCM was where you could score a top time due to lack of facilities and meets.
It seems that other much faster swimmers have found my ploy.
Alas.
I like LCM and SCM. Having never competed in either before masters, its a clean slate for me. I prefer to skip the SCY season altogether or just swim off events.
That is the one good thing about SCM. You are pretty much doing Personal Best because the only place I did SCM was Summer League Meets. There was no 1500, 400 IM or 200 fly in Summer League meets.
