Is it just me or do world records in short course meters lack the prestige of world records in long course? And are the 50's just not as big a deal as the longer races? Maybe I'm just showing my age?

I prefer, in order, LC, SCY, SCM.
SCM is a problem since I can't train at that distance. In the past, SCM was where you could score a top time due to lack of facilities and meets.
It seems that other much faster swimmers have found my ploy.
