Maximum number of meet entries?

I was just wondering, how many of you typically enter the maximum number of events that you can? I always do. One of our new coaches wants us to try and focus more on our "stronger events" and skip the other events. I usually like to see how well I might do in a event I haven't done in awhile.
  • Furnutter will get indoor plumbing and Funkness will get rid of her mini van before Jazz will ever be able to do any fitness activity for an hour straight. Let's face it, he might be able to go to class but staying active for an hour, no way. It's even less likely that Haircrapper will cut his mangy locks anytime soon. Imagine The Unabomber mated with Mary Feldman, that's your current view of Furdingle.
  • Um, that wasn't lactate intolerance. How about your other 100s fly, then? :) I love how Fort says, it wasn't lactate intolerance, it was lack of training. I don't think there is much difference. I will say that, beyond adaptations producing power, aerobic endurance, lactate tolerance, stroke efficiency, etc etc, an important aspect of training is simply to figure out the proper way to pace any event above a 50. ANYONE will die if they take out a race too hard, no matter how they train. Just to be clear: I give you a LOT of kudos for doing the 100 fly race, I just like poking fun at big targets... (interpret that however you want).
  • I'd do a 100 back 10 minutes after a 200 fly if needed. Seriously, the 200 fly is over-rated as a killer race, especially short course where languid turns and long SDKs off each wall can make this race quite fun. I've done the reverse... 100 back then 200 fly, in back-to-back heats.
  • It seems like a classic quantity vs quality argument. If you want to swim several races or long races, good for you,not for me.FYI at one of his coaching sessions Dennis Baker said to be careful of entering too many events in one day if you want to swim fast.
  • I'm more in the camp of doing the most allowed, but try to avoid back to back events. Typically I'd do 3-5 events a day when I did meets. At one meet I did a 50 back, more as filler between a longer break before other events I wanted to do (I didn't even know a proper back start and was scolded by the starter). I figure if I'm paying 40 bucks and giving up 1-2 days, I might as well get in some yardage while I'm at it. Note, I'm not a fast swimmer. But just about every time I did a meet it was a pb for me.

I LOVE the hangnail excuse. But to be clear, these do not constitute excuses for AquaBonkity to weasel out of his upcoming naked 200 fly. I think that should be the 5th event of the day as well. It's bad enough seeing aquaweenie's pale white body in a legskin. Is there anyway to keep him from having do it naked???? Please!!!!! That would as bad as seeing Wolf in a size 24 speedo brief....maybe worse

Granted I still have more hair in my beard than you do on your entire body.
