YMCA Indy SwimFit has booked 50 rooms at the Marriott Courtyard across the street from the International Swimming Hall of Fame pool for the Y Nationals...It looks as though we will not use are total allotment of rooms...If you are interested in one of these rooms please contact Mel Goldstein at goldsteinmel@sbcglobal.net ....The rooms are $189 per night (Single, Double, Triple or Quad).

Party at Mel's room!
Are you recruiting??
Sorry - I just don't get YMCA masters nationals. Why have a seperate meet ?
That's like have a championhip for all teams that start with the letter A, B and C - nobody else is invited. You may beat up on those Austin and Colorado swimmers, but you never get to even swim against the guys from Florida.
Totally agree...
Make it a National Championships for the US Masters Swimmers.
(I wish it really was)
CLOVIS or bust!
The YMCA of the USA promotes a National Championship for all of the YMCA's in the US. They do this for their YMCA Age Group swimming programs , as well as YMCA Masters Programs...Swimmers who participate in the Y Nationals must be a full priviledged member of the YMCA they represent. This event in no way takes a way from or competes with US Masters National Championships....The teams/clubs that are YMCA programs are obligated to swim in the Y meet. This again is not meant or intended to "shun" the US Masters Meet...In our case, we have one of the largest progams in US Masters Swmmming with over 400+ registered swimmers (100% registered)....As a YMCA team we support US Masters Swimming, because we believe US Masters Swimming provides programs for adults who have chosen aquatics as a means of exercise for a healthier lifestyle....There are not too many clubs or teams that can make that statement.
It is all true Mel...
But we do miss our "Y" Masters at USMS Nationals because they often have to choose between the 2 championship meets.
No criticism... just missing a piece of the pie.
And I do love my pie!
Yes, there are some Masters Swimmers who choose to do one or the other...However, if you use 5 YMCA pools that provide you with 30 workout times a week, pay your coaches salaries, and pay pool rentals for other pools used, which meet do you go to if you are YMCA sponsored team....? I think the answer is simple....
Let's hope we don't get rid of ANY of the above competitions so that we can have plenty of choice for big meets.
I agree, Mel! Easier for me to get to FL than get to far away Clovis. I'd love to attend a Y Nats one year. Sounds like fun, and it seems like plenty of people I know attend.

DEFINITELY!
I can see the many reasons that Y Masters Swim Teams need to support the Y-Nationals.
And certainly, The USMS Nationals - or Y Nationals might be overloaded if we only had one single National Championships for all interseted parties...
So - I hope Bill Volkening at SWIMMER Magazine finds an opportunity here to create a "Virtual National Championships" for Masters Swimming in the USA.

Huh? Erik, you might look at the results from past meets. In my age group, I would be competing against most of the best competition that USMS has to offer plus some who only go to YMCA meets. The same can be said for Senior Games.

Full disclosure: I have never attended a YMCA meet but have attended many Senior Games and USMS National and local meets. Plus, I know Paul Smith.
Isn't that sort of what the Top Ten lists already are?
It would be interesting to see a compilation of the TT into a virtual meet. Maybe a forumite is putting one together on their own and would share the results...
