YMCA Indy SwimFit has booked 50 rooms at the Marriott Courtyard across the street from the International Swimming Hall of Fame pool for the Y Nationals...It looks as though we will not use are total allotment of rooms...If you are interested in one of these rooms please contact Mel Goldstein at goldsteinmel@sbcglobal.net ....The rooms are $189 per night (Single, Double, Triple or Quad).
It would be interesting to see a compilation of the TT into a virtual meet. Maybe a forumite is putting one together on their own and would share the results...

Thanks Chris. I was aware of (and appreciate :chug:) your compilation from last year but it'd be nice if was done on a regular basis plus some method of comparing different options such as club, team, women, men, different age groups, etc. Not asking for much, am I...:afraid:
You can find a YMCA team to attach to and swim in Y Nationals. It's just is a matter of talking to the right people, getting on a team that will help "attach" you, and also understanding the special requirements (ie, membership requirements, insurance issue, and be willing to pay the additional cost to join a Y team, and let's not forget that relatively steep and early deadline for meet entry for Y Nationals).
Just look at prior years results. You will see very recognizable "USMS" masters swimmers, often swimming for teams completely in other states.
I totally get it. If you are willing to get your Y status as well as USMS, then you can get 6 swims at USMS nationals and 8, yes, 8, individual swims at Y nationals. Plus they count for USMS top ten. There are many reasons to do both - certainly racking up top tens is a common theme - holy cow - 8 events plus a plateful of relays - you totally get your money's worth! Other reasons are as mentioned above, such as "true" Y swimmers, or just can't make the dates of USMS nationals, and/or geographic reasons.
Normally I attend USMS Nationals but this year I am coaching a small group of Y Masters who are interested in going to YMCA Nationals. Since most have never competed in a Nationals they like the idea of no qualifying times. I am hoping that this will encourage them to want to swim next year in Atlanta.
For me this fact plus the $$$ difference being on the east coast, it just made sense.
Next year I have to support the home team GAJA at USMS Nat's in Atlanta, GA!

Wow Michelle...
I've got to find me a "Y" Team to join!
Very convincing for those who can and like to race a lot!

Thanks Chris and Jim for referencing the Virtual Championship thread from late last year.
I'm going there to write a message since this thread is about YMCA Nationals!
So - I hope Bill Volkening at SWIMMER Magazine finds an opportunity here to create a "Virtual National Championships" for Masters Swimming in the USA.
Isn't that sort of what the Top Ten lists already are?
