2009 Swimming New Years Resolutions

What are your 2009 Swimming New Years Resolutions? mine are: + deeper push offs + better streamlines + SDKs off every wall, expecially when I'm tired What are yours? Ande btw: please let me know what you think of my latest song I Resolve the New Years Resolution Song by Halie Loren http://www.halieloren.com you can hear it at: www.songramp.com/.../viewtrack.php If you like it please share it with someone you love short cut link is: http://tinyurl.com/Iresolve Ande
  • I resolve to swim a 200 SCY fly. Then if it turns out not to be the worst experience ever, maybe I'll race one, or swim one LCM. It won't be the worst experience ever. Once you do your first one, you will want to swim it more. I did my first 200 fly when I was 13 and been swimming ever since. Of course, there were periods that I wasn't swimming it(1997-2003, 2006-2007) and that is because I wasn't training. If I was training, I would have swum that race.
  • I do 200 fly, slowly, but still do it at 62 years old!
  • I won't make any meets outside Colorado in 2009 so it is difficult to set goals to significantly improve my times due to the altitude factor, but I would like to come as close as possible to my IM times from Austin last year at altitude. I am especially working to improve the middle of my IMs (back and ***) including SDKs on backstroke and better breastroke turns. I would also like to break 22 in the 50 free SCY and 49 in the 100 free SCY as a masters swimmer (recurring resolution until I accomplish it). Other than that, I resolve to: 1. Not wear a tech suit, 2. Not wear a swim cap (I am virtually bald anyway), 3. Swim 3 or 4 times a week and maintain or reduce my weight, and 4. Body surf the wave at Typhoon Lagoon in Orlando as my favorite vacation swim workout. Have a great 2009, Tim
  • 1. Practice starts at places other than meets. 2. Go to sleep a wee bit earlier. 3. Try to lift 3x week at least some of the time. 4. Swim a couple new events. No time goals yet. But then I rarely have them except maybe floating around in the back of my mind. I guess I'd like to keep improving and stave off age-related slowdown. I don't have to resolve to always wear a tech suit at meets, since I always do. :)
  • ~ Get along with my new coach ~ Work on my fly head position ~ Get to minimum 365 miles for the year (hit 350 before ear infection this year) ~ lift weights at least 2 times per week ~ yoga or pilates at least once a week

    3 mile open water swim.
  • I resolve to swim a 200 SCY fly. Then if it turns out not to be the worst experience ever, maybe I'll race one, or swim one LCM. I LOVE the 200 fly because soooo many people are (unreasonably) afraid of it. My keys for success: kick a LOOOONG time underwater, loaf the 1st 100, breathe BIG & DEEP on every turn, take every turn up to the 125 slooooowwwwllllyyyy, think "sammy save up" for the last 75 do that and you'll have a lovely time.
  • What is SDK? SDK = Streamlined Dolphin Kick (at least that's what I hope it is else I've been doing things wrong!)
  • My only swimming goal in 2009 is to have fun in my first year in the new age group. I lied. I also want to remove Ron Karnaugh from as many records as possible.
  • Sort of the same as last year. Laugh at least 3 times each practice. And no crying - unless absolutely necessary! :) I like these, and they are definitely achievable. ;) But on a more serious note-- * Complete 2 marathons, and at least 1 other running race (maybe a 1/2, 10k, etc). Goal time of 4 hours for first marathon. * Compete in at least 1 swim meet. Probably here in AZ, but I seem to visit family in PA so close to when Colonies Zone meets happen, it would be nice to go to one. * Get my money's worth from the gym membership I got for Christmas. Ideally 3+ times/week. I don't mind my weight going up if I increase my muscle mass. Otherwise, pretty much keeping up what I started last year, withouth burning myself out.
