My team has morning and evening workouts. Generally speaking the morning workouts are better attended (there are fewer). I swim at night because like ImSpoiled I don't like getting out of bed early but now I am on the road on my way to work about 15 minutes into the am practice. :violin:
Variety is good if possible.

The best time to hold practice is whenever you can get the most people to come! Seriously.
Everyone is different, so the best time of day for me to swim will be different than the next guy's response. I work, and am not much for getting out of bed early, so the best time for me is after work--early evening. That doesn't always mean it's the "best time", but it's when I can get there.

The best time for me is all day! Unfortunately, school and my girlfriend get in the way of that. If it's not right before a meet, I like to swim in the mornings from like 8 or 9 until 10 or 11 (1.5-2 hours) and then again at practice from 7pm until 8:30pm.

For me it's in the mornings. In the evenings I have kids who have things like football practice and homework and a husband who has to work late sometimes. Personally, I prefer evenings but my life right now doesn't support it.

Our team offers practice in the am and pm. Usually more people show up to the AM practice.
I prefer the mornings but right now, I have to swim whenever Villanova schedules it. Plus, the Y practices are at night during the week and on Saturday mornings.

I am debating right now whether or not to do the pm practices as well. I am holding the a.m. practices, but a lot of people that have been interested in the program are complaining that it is too early and want to see practices in the p.m. However, the issue with that is I only have a 4 lane 25 yard pool to work with an a growing swim team that needs the pool at night...issues issues issues....thoughts?
Can the Masters who want PM swims practice with the age groupers? If so, why not encourage them to give that a try.

My Master's swimmers would be able to keep up with my age-groupers! They aren't at that level yet since they are just starting back up...literally just starting back up this week...excellent idea, though! If they get to that level then I will definitely pursue that!

Another benefit to swimming in the morning is that your body becomes acustom to it and that most likely when meets take place. Being an early riser you'll have that advantage.
