A lot of people seemed to be doing that, I think I saw magnuson do it, maybe Hansen also.

It looks like Beard took too much time off. She should have been in the pool than in the Grotto with Hugh Hefner's girlfriends. That's nuts. She swam great tonight. The fact she made top 8 in the 100 I think bodes very well for her 200. I get so tired of people coming after her like this just because of her modeling career. She's actually a very nice person and you might want to try and know her before you make ridiculous statements like the one above.

That's how the make them exit at international meets, so they are apparently trying to get everyone to do it here, to give it a similar feel.

I think all times listed are Eastern. But, if they are starting ahead of time... I would go to nbcolympics.com and watch it thru there... I believe the trials are on USA on TV today and tomrrow... I think you can watch it all thru the nbc website. I don't like the way it was broadcast tonight. At 8pm USA only showed the 2nd semi final with Phelps but not the first. Also way too much time with commercials. And don't get me started on the nbcolympics webcast! It is exactly the same as the TV broadcast -commercials included, but with a slight delay. Though I feel like I should be grateful that swimming is on TV at all, considering how little is usually shown.:(

Randall Bal! I think 53.28 is a best time for him. He hasn't been to the Olympics, but I think he really deserves it. Another great swim from Bal in semis. I'm kind of rooting for him, but let's be clear: he "deserves" it when he finishes top two in finals. There's only one way to "deserve" an olympic berth. I think Yoda put it best...

I'm sick of Rowdy Gaines already. We have a long week of overexcited yelping in front of us.

I loved Breeden's reaction when she realized she made the team.

Vendt's finish was probably one of those situations where you get close to that wall and you get a bit antsy - his charge was amazing, but a little too late. Who knows if he would have gotten 2nd if he glided to the finish. I was just sad that he didn't make it, but he will swim again. I enjoy Rowdy most of the time... Jazz Hands comment was funny. I think I like John Naber more... but he's doing the post-race interviews. Maybe they should switch positions. I completely forgot about Sandeno in the 400 IM, she was 11th after prelims... would have thought she would have been in finals. Oh well... Hoff and Beisel will do great! Do any of you think that Lochte could beat Phelps at any time... maybe in Beijing??? I was super-impressed from his 400IM and was wondering if he has the potential to dethrone Phelps in any event. Prelims start in 15 minutes!

Phelps apparently scratched the 100 back for tomorrow, because he doesn't appear on the start list. I thought he might go for that one in prelims and semis, if for no other reason than another shot at the 400 medley in case Crocker beats him in the 100 fly. He doesn't have to swim in the relay final in bejing to get a gold. He can swim in the relay in prelims and still get a gold even if he croker swims in his place in the final. I think its a dumb rule. I think they should make it so the same 4 people have to swim in both the prelim and the final.
