I swam for the first 20 years of my life but abruptly stopped upon graduating from college. I am 40 now and I am going to be swimming with a masters group tomorrow. I havent swam a workout for 20 years (I am 40 now). Any suggestions?

Take it easy to start. Focus on technique. It seems easier to get hurt at 40 than at 20 (I never remember getting hurt swimming when I was young) and it takes longer to heal. (That I can confirm as a 54-yo.)
Welcome back to the pool.

You are returning from a long period without swimming???
For sure start slow. Get so you can handle a good swim before you start to do heavy workouts.
Have you been doing some lap swimming recently or are you starting stone cold?
If you have not been working out here is a good start for anyone. ruthkazez.com/ZeroTo1mile.html
Thanks So Much for the Advice!!! Sounds like I just need to make it through the first six weeks...I have marked it on my calendar.
I like the zero to 1650 in Six weeks. I have printed it and put it on my mirror.
Thanks
