Dara just one the national title in the 100M Freestyle in 54.4 at the ripe old age of 40. Simply Incredible. :applaud: :woot:
If that's not inspiring I don't know what is.

Great job Dara...and so good to see her take 2nd place with such a big smile and no pouting. While the argument about the face of USMS has raged previously, I think it would be good for growth to get Dara visibly linked with USMS for the general public.
Slogans?
"What can USMS do for you?"
I give Dara all the credit in the world, and I think her sportsmanship was great. Imagine, however, the chagrin in the NBC corporate offices when they learned that a Swedish swimmer would not be emerging from the lockerroom in a torn suit.
Talk about a ratings bummer.
Oh, well. They didn't show Paul Smith in his torn B70 (at LC Nationals), either.
I noticed that Dara Torres wears old-school speedo goggles watching the Olympics.

"Torres arrived at the Stanford pool with outdated bug-eyed goggles..."
Good for her, I never cared for the new vanquisher goggles.
I cheered for Dara's daring (and old-school) over-the-cap goggle strap placement. I can no longer think of those who put their goggle straps under their caps as a little bit wussy (since most of the best swimmers in the US do that). But, 10 years ago I used to think it a sure sign of goggle insecurity. Perhaps most of today's swimmers do it so that their names on their caps won't be covered by the goggle strap.
She reached her peak at 41. In Sydney, she was only able to get bronze in her individual events.
I'm not so sure she has peaked. The way she's been dropping her 50 and 100 times like an age grouper, by London she could be the first woman to go under 23 and under 52.
Only Dara can truly understand what it feels like to be Cavic!
She said in an interview that at one point she said to others that she would hate to have been that guy who lost to Michael Phelps by 1/100th of a second. Later, she lost by 1/100th of a second. She smiled, laughed, and said she must have jinxed herself.
Right on!!! She should keep swimming... and then she'll break the world record sometime in the next 4 years...
She could probably do it again, why not - ride this thing out as much as she can. It will be a long time before anyone can repeat what she has accomplished.
