Dara just one the national title in the 100M Freestyle in 54.4 at the ripe old age of 40. Simply Incredible. :applaud: :woot: If that's not inspiring I don't know what is.

Too bad. Now instead of making billions, she'll only make a couple million. I hope she thought it was worth it.

Tunisian by passport only. Like 1/2 the foreign medals at the meet. The depth would be severely lacking if this kind of thing didn't happen.

Mihal Alexandrov. I believe he was born here in Champaign, IL. Went to Northwestern. goes to the Olympics as a Hungarian. His dad was an Olympian for Hungary a long time ago. he still swims in our masters. 8 gold metals. how awesome. Would anyone say Jason Lezak has has a disappointing Olympic career?

I would have until now, but he'll be tied to the Michael Phelps legacy forever, most likely. I think 46.06 will stick in peoples minds for a while. Plus he finally got an individual medal.

Very nice semi, and a good sport.
  • Anybody want to take a guess at what Dara will be doing 4 years from now?

Michael moved to Champaign in his Junior High years and is Bulgarian as is his Dad. He has dual citizenship and swam for Bulgaria. Very, very nice family.

That was an awesome performance from Dara. She went up against the best in the world and damn nearly won. For a 41 year old that is no mean feat. So, as it hasn't been said for at least a page: Dara truly is amazing. :applaud: I was so rooting for her to win. I couldn't believe it at first. Another 0.01 second difference! Only Dara can truly understand what it feels like to be Cavic! She has really done herself proud. Congrats to Dara!
  • I give Dara all the credit in the world, and I think her sportsmanship was great. Imagine, however, the chagrin in the NBC corporate offices when they learned that a Swedish swimmer would not be emerging from the lockerroom in a torn suit. Talk about a ratings bummer.
