You are probably right stud. I was walking the beat one night and a school friend who had taken the wrong path asked me to stand guard while he broke into stores. He said he would share the lute with me. I told him don't do it on my beat. I was brought up in a neighbour hood of murderers, mafia, and general bad guys. My friend was the enforcer for the mafia. One of my best friends in grade school was the shooter for the enforcer. My neighbour was a heroin dealer. Most of the girls I went to school with ended up as heroin addicts and in the profession.
I was lucky my mother and father made us go to the swimpool and made us join the swim club.
I grew up in a rough town too...my dad was a cop, my brother still is...what happens as a young kid is of little relevance when you're a grown and understanding adult.
Things are not black and white, but if you want to stir it up don't hide it behind a question if you truly believe it. That's my stance.
George do you think that effective police are effective by committing crimes themselves before playinig for the good guys? I thought perhaps being around criminals, studying case history, following procedures and the law are what make the majority effective.

I think it is healthy to be skeptical. It helps us maintain our guard against the fraudsters out there. That doesn't mean we have to suspect everybody, though.
Suspect when there is reason to suspect, is what I say. So far no one has provided any really convincing evidence in this thread that DT is cheating. I don't really see any significant physical change in the photos. All I see is a swimmer who looks damn good for a 40 year old. I certainly don't see a steroid pumped up freak. Not someone who looks even remotely overly muscular. Just in good shape. As for the tenuous links to Balco...well that might warrant further investigation but bear in mind, given the six degree rule, all of us could probably also to be found to have tenuous links to someone in Balco.
My feeling on the matter is that, given the lack of evidence, we should refrain from making judgement. This is not to say we shouldn't be alert or be skeptical when skepticism is due. Neither do I mean to say expression of opinion is not important or shouldn't be allowed. By all means, it is okay to air suspicions but there is a murky line between airing opinions and making negative aspersions. It is just a case of affording others the kind of respect we would hope they would afford us if the situation were reversed.

If they bring that rule in for us we will all be in trouble. Me for sure, that is why I changed my avatar, no more boozing evidence, I take 4 different kinds of medication. The only thing they would not get me for is smoking. When I was ten my mother caught my brother smoking and that was the last time I had a smoke.
Um, if you are over 14, or over 12 or whatever and compete in certain meets you are tested. Heck, my 8 year old had to sign a "no alcohol, no tobacco, no drugs" agreement for her year round team, although I did forge her name.

Yes I was a cop. Now everyone who has a faster time this year than they had last year and over forty has to be tested. Hey lets go down to fourteen, everyone who has a faster time after age fourteen has to be tested.
It must be proof postive the faster you swim proves drug use???
