I am attending a conference at the www.doralarrowwood.com/default.asp in Rye Brook New York. Is their somewhere nearby I can get some swimming in along the coast of the Long Island Sound?
Thanks

There is a nice 1 mile swim on July 14th out of Greenwich (about 15-20 min by car from the Doral/Arrowood)

I have a follow-up question. I found that to swim in the LI Sound I must pay a $20 car fee and a $6.00 fee per person to swim in the LI Sound!
Given that I am driving from www.doralarrowwood.com/default.asp in Rye Brook New York where I am attending a conference is their any area nearby where I can swim in the LI Sound AND avoid the steep daily fee?
By the way I unfortunately wont be able to particpate in the http://www.gscevents.org/ as I am arriving in the area late Saturday night.
By the way if any USMS Masters swimmer would be willing to pick me up Sunday morning at my hotel and wants to swim with me in the Sound I will pay for the car fee and your fee also.
Also do I need a wet suit to swim in the LI Sound? How cold is it?
Thanks swimmers.
One more thing. I contacted the Aquatic Department at CUNY at Purchase to see about morning swims but their arent any. Any of you Masters swimmers have some clout their and can get us in their to do a swim in the early morning on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday mornings starting July 15?
Swimmingly.

Go to the summer sizzler LCM meet in Wilton Ct. on Sunday. I think you can show up before 8:00 AM and deck seed.
No wetsuit needed right now for the sound. This is not SF!
Hmmm.....Playland is an amusement park right on the Sound (NY part). There is a little beach right next to it. I beleive the parking fee used to be $5.00 and I don't recall a beach fee. I don't see why you can't just bring a towel and swim there.
As for swimming, there is a YWCA that used to have a Masters swim program in White Plains (about 10 minute drive). Also a YMCA in White Plains that has a 6 lane/25 yrd pool and I beleive you can pay a guest fee to use the facility. I don't think there is a Masters program there. (I used to work in White Plains so am familiar a bit with the area).
That "Summer Sizzler LCM meet in Wilton Ct. on Sunday July 15th sounds great. I only have one problem I have no way to get there. Can't rent a car and a taxi would be to much $$$$. I am attending a conference at the www.doralarrowwood.com/default.asp in Rye Brook New York and arrive Saturday.
Would anyone coming from the direction of my hotel headed towards the meet be willing to pick me up Sunday morning? I will pay for pay gas (thats no small thing these days ya know) and buy breakfast!
Thanks
