Swiminfo.com has released a post saying that Amanda Beard will be on the cover of the July issue for Playboy. How do you think this will effect her image among the swimming communties? Will any of us purchase this issue because of her?

I think she's beautiful... Amen to that.
  • What’s this I hear about too much kin in magazines today? Why I think there should be more kin in magazines these days. Young children and families today have a tough enough time as it is without major publication corporations making it hard for them to see their kin in print. There can never bee too many opportunities for folks to see their kin. :laugh2: :lmao:   "NEVER MIND!"

  • SS- I thank you for not calling it modeling! I do understand what you're saying, I think. Not all men look at a naked woman as an object. However, what then is the purpose of skin mags like Playboy? I always thought that's what the jokes were all about. "I like the comics," or "Oh, are there naked women in there?!?" I don't at all equate nursing in public with someone sittin' spread eagle (beaver, whatever cute little furry animal you choose) with nursing. No one, that I'm aware of, has ever gotten off on someone nursing! And, if I want you to have my POV, I'll shove it down your throat and then beat it out of you :thhbbb: :duel: :lmao: :drink: PS I respect you every morning :p
  • If AB hits the right connections after this shoot, it won't matter to her career. According to the web site, the photographer is Daniela Federici. I had no idea who she is, but when I look at the resume on her web site, she has worked with an A-list of magazines and celebrities.
  • I had the experience yesterday of taking my 14 year old daughter shopping for her first non-athletic bikini. She wanted one to be more like the other kids I think. Oh my, oh my, what is out there is scary. We finally found something that was somewhat conservative, but the majority showed way to much. Her comment even on the one she bought, Guess I won't be jumping off the diving board in this, better stick to a speedo for that.
  • It is said that Washington D.C. has a ratio of 10 to 1 attractive young women to men because it's a Nation's capital. Hmm, I am sailing there tonight! Who wants to duel for my love (and some of my treasure)? :duel: I have heard that same thing, and I'd say that quote is fairly true.

Questions to ponder from a purely male perspective: Why do women in sports, wear attire that is clearly lust provoking, and maybe only slightly confortable. Examples: track and field (I am watching the american pole vaulter girl as I type, she is hot!), volleyball, basketball. Would luscious (?) looking girls be less luscious if they wore more clothing? As I watch a 400 meter running event I notice some wear the skimpy clothing, others are more clothed, and I have slight lustful thoughts for the less dressed girls. Is lust only in the eyes of the beholder? Are full swimming or fast skin attires for girls more sexy than bikins? (sometimes I think so). Are we arguing a purely cultural aspect of clothing? Hey, if you walk into a steam bath or finnish sauna or other parts of a spa (not the swimming pool, where clothes are required because of hygiene (?) purposes) in most countries in Europe, every one is totally naked, some wearing towels, others sitting on towels, nevertheless, no one making a deal about being clothed or not. I wore swimming briefs at one of these places because I grew up in Brazil and am a prude. Would I be different if I had grown up in Europe? I did go naked once, but felt self-conscious all the time, and there were no friends of mine present. Last question: does Amanda Beard need to be naked to provoke in us lustful thoughts? billy fanstone
