Swiminfo.com has released a post saying that Amanda Beard will be on the cover of the July issue for Playboy. How do you think this will effect her image among the swimming communties? Will any of us purchase this issue because of her?

It's free allright...you're free to pay obscene taxes!
  • It's like the people that berate mother's for beastfeeding in public--no matter how discreet they try to be--how is breastfeeding disgusting? I don't think the restroom is an appropriate venue for anyone to eat lunch in. Never breastfed in a restroom in my life, and all my kids were breastfed. Like everywhere. :lmao: Soccer fields, baseball fields, swimming pools, school plays, restaurants, law firms, parks, movie theaters, Starbucks, etc. Still, no private parts showing. ;) :thhbbb: Unless someone peeked ...
  • Yes--but even if a mere flash did occur, so what. You ever seen the "hidden video" shows of people scolding *** feeding women...turn the other way... Anyhow I'm not arguing with you about it...we both know I'm right. hahaha If someone scolded me, I'd bite their head off. It's a free country, and I was doing what I thought was right for my kids. I should note that I also took a *** pump to my law firm. The bottles in the fridge offended some. I didn't care. I asked for a lock for my office door. I got one too. Surprised? They didn't want to piss off the person that drafted their own part time policy. :lmao:

Back on subject. what if it were a world -class male swimmer posing nude in Playgirl or in a gay mag? I think that Amanda has made a terrible msitake if she is going to be nude in photographs. I though don't yet know if there willbe naked pictures. did I miss that?
  • This is so redundant now. Amanda is on her way into design and promoting her self and her clothing line. Yeah, cause a sure sign of a successful clothing designer is to drop trou in a nudey mag, that's the sign you've made it as a designer. Too bad her advertising business model is to get naked. I suppose Speedo is behind her and has ads in this Playboy issue? If not, what does that tell you about her business model, not much to be sure. If you want to support Amanda, go buy her clothes. If you want to support Playboy, buy the mag.

Surely there will be nude photos...I think that has been verified by one of our members. As for a gay swimmer posing nude, what difference would it make? Does it somehow diminish his swimming ability or make his WR times less valuable? I think far too many people are far too hung up on what others think of them. What is the hang up with nudity anyhow? We are not talking about a XXX movie or pole dancing in some smoke filled Vegas strip club.

Geek, that is vastly overstated, not one penny would be spent if it had not been deemed to be US 'best interests' being represented. And we are losing a steady stream of soldiers in Afghanistan fighting the Taliban. And a large percentage of those taxes go to medical care (even though at times crappy) which is simply a fee you pay instead of a tax.
  • The only thing it could do is derail a political run, or yes her Olympic bid not that I agree with that either. You really couldn't be farther from the truth here. Posing naked for a skin mag can do much more than harm a political run. Take a look at what is happening to job and college applicants for their suggestive facebook/myspace entries. And, every few months some article pops up about some official being fired for a playboy or otherwise suggestive photo spread. Need more proof - how many adult film stars have made the transition to mainstream adult movies, maybe a handful, at best. There is a stigma with doing what she is doing. You can claim it's a double standard or whatever you want but it won't change the fact that what she is doing will impact her career, whether positively or negatively remains to be seen. But, it's a fact you don't see too many legitimate business people out there posing naked. Probably because most savvy business people know that is a bad idea.

"I get what Dr. Kane is saying, but I don't agree with it. There's no reason you can't be a wholesome, All-American girl and still be attractive to men, and the fact that women with athletic bodies are considered attractive is a step forward, not a step backward" This is a quote from the article.....I know a lot of people that thought Anna Nicole Smith was attractive, was she a "wholesome" example?....And what does being attractive have to do with being wholesome? Not a thing!!! Just my opinion of course. Oh, and can anybody tell me how many of the women in the article are currently still working in the public eye? I think Gabby is doing some announcing for V-Ball.....but can't remember seeing any of the others recently.
