Swiminfo.com has released a post saying that Amanda Beard will be on the cover of the July issue for Playboy. How do you think this will effect her image among the swimming communties? Will any of us purchase this issue because of her?

SS, you are forgetting the double standard here in the good old US of A...... Men don't get lumped into "that" category. A man sleeps with lots of girls = Stud A woman does the same = wh*re Is it right? My opinion....no way. But it's pretty much a fact. Yes and the basis for my objedtion to some of the opinions here. That notwithstanding. If AB hits the right connections after this shoot. It won't matter to her career.

This is an incorrect statement. Personally, I don't believe either of the stereotypes. Just personally, I realize other people believe they are true. But many other people don't. And I really don't think men who sleep around are "studs." They are men that I wouldn't have wanted to date. Amen. This stereotype has always annoyed me.

Using Fonda as an example of success is ludicrous...She had one good movie (On Golden Pond) and a successful line of videos....She managed to get in the limelight via her family and stay via her now ex-husband, who is also incredibly wealthy. So, she really hasn't done much on her own. I'm not discussing the political aspect of her life, I just pointed out, as you have concurred, that if you marry the right person, or make the right connections, many things can be overcome. My example of JF was that because of the things she did, you would have though nobody would want to touch her. She made a fortune off of those videos, and has been a few movies of late...

Fort I definitely agree with you on this, unfortunately a lot of other people see it as being cool. Now days, it's getting to be cool for both men and women......not the reputation I want for either my son or my daughter!
  • That's what I think too, Matt. If she was in a sex tape, a la Paris Hilton, then yes, I think it would be very damaging. I don't think posing nude in Playboy is even in the same ballpark.

Now days, it's getting to be cool for both men and women......not the reputation I want for either my son or my daughter! Shoot. I missed the earlier sex revolution (Flower-girls, hippies, etc...) in Egypt and now that promiscuity is getting to be IN again, I'm too old (and too poor to attract the gold-digging bimbas*). :whiteflag: * To me, bimbo is "masculine", bimba is feminine.
  • We are not talking about a XXX movie or pole dancing in some smoke filled Vegas strip club. That's the OTHER thread. Keep up, huh! :lmao: PS- If it were my beloved APeirsol, I'd have the same opinions, not a smart thing to do, just my opinion, and my opinion would be less of him too.
