  • ...but until I get a car that will allow me to play an iPod, I will stick with CDs. Jeff, Get yourself a generic mp3 player, the kind that plug into a PC like a flash drive. Then install Real Player on your PC, rip the tracks from the CD to the PC and copy them to the mp3 player. A little extra time, but much simpler around the pool. Now, lend me some of your speed genes!!!
  • re:entry - went swimming LCM outside at lunch today. ~40 minutes, 1400m. I have no idea what times I was going, but it certainly felt real painful for the first 1000m. :duel:
  • I attended the Mariners game on Friday night & had the pleasure of meeting "PoolRaat" & "imspoiled" (imspoiled also being my neighbor from about 10 minutes away here in suburban Philly) and many other great people. The meet was a blast in general....Alexis Hey Alexis, It was great meeting you. I watched a few of your swims (and checked results on the others) and you did great!:applaud: :applaud: :applaud: I know what you mean about "re-entry". They ask how you did but all one can say is "I did okay." Start talking about the races, people you met, or anything else related to the meet and you get that blank look. They don't really have a clue. Hope to see you again in Austin.

You can get adapters that go into your car too for about $80. Depends how far off than ipod compatible car purchase is ;)

As I re-enter my "real life" back in PA, after competing in my first masters nationals, I am struck by the fact that I feel the same way as I did twenty years ago as an age-grouper after coming back from a big away meet... lots of people asking me how I did & congratulating me, but no one really "understanding" - no one really knowing what it is like to spend a long weekend with cool people who take part in a cool sport. I am so glad to be back in the water... I attended the Mariners game on Friday night & had the pleasure of meeting "PoolRaat" & "imspoiled" (imspoiled also being my neighbor from about 10 minutes away here in suburban Philly) and many other great people. The meet was a blast in general. I'm hoping I can convince a crew of my teammates to come next year to the party in Austin. Hope everyone's "re-entry" is going smoothly & that you take time to feel good about your meet. best to everyone, Alexis
  • Hope everyone's "re-entry" is going smoothly & that you take time to feel good about your meet. There's another aspect of "re-entry" - I woke up at 5 am Monday morning craving more racing. It's hard to get out of thoroughbred mode after being in it for days. So I ran 12 miles. Problem solved! Seriously, that worked like a charm. Back to engine building for triathlon season!
  • Kirk, I think it was you that recommended Dash Point State Park. I don't think it was me, but glad you enjoyed it! There's certainly lots of natural beauty in this area and I hope some attendees got a chance to enjoy it. The down side to a long meet like Nationals is you often don't get to see a whole lot besides the pool and your hotel room!

wouldn't that be the last person to out after warming down from their 500? great job guys there were some very impressive swims Oh Kirk's 500 ws a warmdown, no? ;) :joker: Kirk's still beating me by minutes on a 500 so...my 500 would be a warmup for the next day hahaha
  • Since Austin is the mecca of live music, maybe you can hire a band to follow you around the pool, playing your favorite songs. Of course, everyone would hear it, but oh well. To that point, on another thread this morning, a couple of musicians were talking about their skills - perhaps we can put together a forum band, performing songs written by Ande... :violin:
  • I'm bringing a phonograph to Austin... Does anyone know where I can find an 8-Track Walkman? Preferably waterproof.
