Are you kidding? Never mind all this ipod stuff- every serious breastroker will be going 'retro' with their personal meet music in an effort to capture the same mojo that Jeff Commings displayed, maybe even take it further...yeah, I'm getting a really long extension cord and lugging around my old record player, yes, the hissing and popping of the true vinyl sound will set me up for PB's...
Since Austin is the mecca of live music, maybe you can hire a band to follow you around the pool, playing your favorite songs.
Of course, everyone would hear it, but oh well.

As they say, there's no accounting for personal taste...
I find it hard to go from tapering to regular mode. Ordinarily I am very active outside the pool,running up stairs,carrying things,aerobic gardening,etc. but during taper I slow down and try to minimize extra stuff. Then at the meet I mostly lie around and focus. It is hard for me mentally to get back to my regular activity level.
Jeff- the answer would probably be to use a hypnotherapist to force yourself to bond to some truly execrable music that would psyche oneself while leaving everyone else heaving...I'm thinking Barry Manilow, Celine Dion...
