Thanks for the kind words about my swims. The pool is still a fun place to swim in, and I hope to go back.
It was great meeting all the forum people that I have never met. I think I met some at worlds, but sometimes I forget faces.
Allen, I heard from some of the people who were at the clinic and they said they swam faster in their 100 ***. They made a point to say some of your tips helped them out.
I also met some people for the first time and had lovely conversations with them, about swimming and other stuff. Brian Goldman, Mark Magee, Tom Emison and Filippo Porco, I'm talking to you.
Everyone better go to Austin next year. Federal Way was great, but Austin will blow your mind!
I noticed Jeff was listening to a CD Walkman between his races. Can we get a collection together to get that man an iPod? It ain't right for someone that fast to be stuck with stone age technology! :D
Speaking of fast swimming, it was sort of interesting that Anthony Ervin didn't really stick out. It was actually cool he was just another swimmer. I saw him and his team at the pool every day and it looked like they were enjoying themselves, got in a few relays, etc. Hopefully that experience gave Anthony a taste of what masters swimming is all about. We like to talk about all the fast swims, but really it's just going out there and swimming your best and seeing faces you haven't seen for a while. That's what makes Nationals fun.
Did anyone get a chance to talk to Anthony at all?
It sounds like there was some great swimming!!!
Even though I intended to go and watch I was not allowed to drive because my knees were in problems. They took xrays I will get the results on Tuesday. The snap crackle and pop stopped yesterday and I seem okay I hope all is well. My goal now is to go to Texas.

I guess I have 2 seasons to set a record before Jeff ages up...
It's only about 10 seconds lol
Kudos Jeff.
Doug Strong, age 82, swam the 200 fly in around the 10 minute range. For the last 50 yards he was the only swimmer in the water and everyone in the pool started cheering him on every time he breathed for the last probably 10-15 yards. It was great to see. Obviously Doug wasn't moving very fast, but he was moving and he kept it going till he hit that wall.
The downer is Doug got DQed. I give him an A for effort regardless!
The meet was so well run it was scary,if you didn't take the time line seriously you missed your heats. I met some really nice people including Jeff Commings and Rich Abrahams. It's amazing how even the great ones are so friendly. Also it must be said that Masters Swimming Women are the most beautiful women in the world.:bouncing: :bouncing: :bouncing: :bouncing: :bouncing:

Thats a shame he was dq'd. I bet it was awe-inspiring. I remember a simillar moment in Savannah when an older man did the 200 fly. We were all giving him a standing ovation when to our surprise he pushed off after the 200 and was heading into an extra 50! Nadine Day dove in to stop him. He was all smiles and said he enjoyed everyone clapping so much that he didn't want his race to stop!! I LOVE MASTERS SWIMMERS! THEY ARE THE BEST PEOPLE IN THE WOELD!!

Allen, you just made all the female masters swimmers' day!;)
Here's my little bit of personal trivia from the meet: I was the last person to touch the wall in the entire meet. My heat of the 500 ended up going off last and I was last in the heat. Hey, not exactly something to brag about, but it's interesting anyway!
