I haven't thought this through so it is probably a hairbrained idea but...
Has anyone ever proposed a national Masters gathering that is not "championship oriented", e.g. where you aren't limited to three events if you can't make NQTs, perhaps with an associated open water event, and just more of an orientation toward gathering than high performance?
This is a pretty good idea. Besides swimming, there could be stroke clinics, nutrition clinics, dryland clinics, etc, etc.
BBQ's, wine tasting, beer drinking.....

(bong relays...if its in peter's neck o'the woods)
not that i'm advocating that sort of thing.
You have to hold in the hit untill after your leg on the relay is over LOL! And in addition to bong relays we can also have beer relays too!

May I suggest that we have the first one this fall associated with the Walnut Creek/PacMasters SCM champs. After all, Napa Valley is only an hour and a half away, so the wine part of the fest could take place then. October is also a good time to be in wine country.
The second one could be associated with the LCM champs in 2008. After all, Portland has the highest density of micro-breweries in the US, n'est pas? For those with tastes too poor for Napa Valley, this would be the perfect fest. And, we could get the jump on the Germans in 2008 for a really BIG beer festival.

Of course we'd have to have noodle jousting too...with my back though, I am not carrying anyone on my shoulders...
All jokes aside I think it is a great idea and would be a fun meet! So perhaps a few madcap games would be fun too...
