I haven't thought this through so it is probably a hairbrained idea but...
Has anyone ever proposed a national Masters gathering that is not "championship oriented", e.g. where you aren't limited to three events if you can't make NQTs, perhaps with an associated open water event, and just more of an orientation toward gathering than high performance?

May I suggest that we have the first one this fall associated with the Walnut Creek/PacMasters SCM champs. After all, Napa Valley is only an hour and a half away, so the wine part of the fest could take place then. October is also a good time to be in wine country.
The second one could be associated with the LCM champs in 2008. After all, Portland has the highest density of micro-breweries in the US, n'est pas? For those with tastes too poor for Napa Valley, this would be the perfect fest. And, we could get the jump on the Germans in 2008 for a really BIG beer festival.
