Good Swim Times? (NO BLOCKS!)

Anyone know of some good times/etc for NON-block starts? Trying to get anywhere near local, school records is crazy unless I jump from the blocks (with rockets on) Currently I can swim say a 50y @ 38s (ALL out) starting in the water. Is this good, bad, etc? What are some good times to shoot for (pace/sprints) and keep in mind that I'm planning on doing sprint and olympic (1k) distances. Thanks!
  • I think you need clarify age. Whether your time is good is dependant on your age. I am 45 and can do about 37 38 all out from a push start. I would not consider myself fast for my age when compared to the women I see my age at meets. I am faster than most people who lap swim, but that does not mean anything. Instead of comparing to others, set bench mark times, and do tests every now and then to see if you are improving. And sometimes staying the same is an improvement as we age!:groovy:

These are from the last local meet we had. The block in Lane 3 was broken two nights before the meet, so no time to fix it. One of the guys on my team had some exceptional swims without the block--he was the overall winner of ALL the 50's and the 100 IM.
