Rant and Gripe

Ok so I miss the NY Aqua fit spring Fling b/c of stomach virus at the weekend. I sneeze and threw out my back yeserday morning and now am staring NEM or more accurately NO-NEM in the face. I'm gonna be a bad tempered breaststroker if I can't make it to NEM. Whine, whine, whine, whine, I agreed to sore knees, sore shoulder, manky ear, brittle hair, cold water induced atrophy, blocked bugle, stinking like clorox, and looking comical doing fly. Why I gotta have lower back issues too? :'(
  • I'm sick (hopefully with just a cold) and the meet where I'm gonna try and qualify for Nationals is the weekend. ERRRRRR:frustrated: *rant, rant, rant* *gripe, gripe, gripe* I feel for you, Kyra. I've been having sinus problems for about a week now. I don't know if it's a cold, allergies, or the chlorine at the pool. I've also had a touch of asthma so I suspect it's the allergies. But don't let it get you down. Get lot's of rest (I know how hard that is for college students, but try), make sure you drink plenty of fluids (probably best to stay away from beer for the rest of the week) and remember the mantra...."It's just for fun." I'm looking forward to seeing you there and we're both going to do awesome!

I finally got my shoulder looked from a fall I had back in February. I had to get a cortisone shot in my rotator cuff! Now I have to take 3 weeks off. If it heals, I'm cured if not its a tear!:frustrated: I'm very sorry to hear that slowswim. I really hope that it heals then. Good luck, we will be pulling for you. Newmastersswimmer

Thank you all for the well wishing. According to do anything that makes it hurt. So: no big pads, no *** stroke, no back stroke, no sprints, no flip turns, and nothing long (not sure what that one means). I can run all I want, but no weights. So that isn't much left. Three weeks isn't bad. I have a 1500m OW swim on May 5th (Jekyll Is.) so that is bad, but if its a tear or I make it worse than that is out too. The fall shouldn't have caused a tear so I feel confident that it'll resolve itself. Please!

  • So here I've been trying to rehab my groin (very carefully) and I get out of a 4100 metre workout Sat morning and while levering myself into my little car, threw out my lower back. And I didn't get one of the jobs I interviewed for 2 weeks ago and the other one has been stopped mid-process by a union grievance. Ouch, ouch and double-ouch. Boo. Terrible. Ice, ibuprofen, muscle relaxers, etc. Do you back sufferers have one of those roll pillow things for the car? They help support the back. Hang in there! Keep at it. You'll be back. :)

  • My knuckle is the size of a plum after jamming it on the wall during a 50 free. I feel sure it will be fine shortly. I had the same issue a couple weeks ago, same event. Swelling went down, but every time I make a fist or somehow stub my finger head on into something, it still hurts. I think something was a little more jacked up than just a jammed finger. Oh well. No pain, no gain. Also more ranty and gripey, new job has not comfortable chairs. Back very very very tight. Tighter than a bungee chord with ande pulling at the other end. Been this way for a week (since I got here). Swimming is fine, but walking, standing, sitting, sleeping - its all got that damm nagging pain. :dedhorse:

Well I have learned two things from last night's recovery swim. Flip turns aggravate my back when it's not in good shape (glad I didn't do any at NEM) My goggles are not good for diving, tried 2 nosepieces and about 10 dives...they leaked/moved on all but 3 dives. To me that means I have a 70% chance of having a goggle malfunction when I am on the block...too much to worry about. So I'm buying another pair of vanquishers, which worked fine for me. I'll just have to do some OW with the other ones.
