Ok so I miss the NY Aqua fit spring Fling b/c of stomach virus at the weekend.
I sneeze and threw out my back yeserday morning and now am staring NEM or more accurately NO-NEM in the face. I'm gonna be a bad tempered breaststroker if I can't make it to NEM.
Whine, whine, whine, whine,
I agreed to sore knees, sore shoulder, manky ear, brittle hair, cold water induced atrophy, blocked bugle, stinking like clorox, and looking comical doing fly.
Why I gotta have lower back issues too? :'(

Well I have learned two things from last night's recovery swim.
Flip turns aggravate my back when it's not in good shape (glad I didn't do any at NEM)
My goggles are not good for diving, tried 2 nosepieces and about 10 dives...they leaked/moved on all but 3 dives. To me that means I have a 70% chance of having a goggle malfunction when I am on the block...too much to worry about. So I'm buying another pair of vanquishers, which worked fine for me.
I'll just have to do some OW with the other ones.
Nice mathematical reasoning there Rich LOL! I agree that its time to invest in a new pair! Goggle malfunctions will definitely mess up your race!

Hehe even if it's my dive on 1 or 2 occurences...I've psyched myself out with those goggles too--i'll be fiddling andfocusing on them all the time not my race and start etc.; they have to go!
Oh for the extra "kick to the pull buoy" they were $25!
I had the same issue a couple weeks ago, same event. Swelling went down, but every time I make a fist or somehow stub my finger head on into something, it still hurts. I think something was a little more jacked up than just a jammed finger. Oh well. No pain, no gain.
Also more ranty and gripey, new job has not comfortable chairs. Back very very very tight. Tighter than a bungee chord with ande pulling at the other end. Been this way for a week (since I got here). Swimming is fine, but walking, standing, sitting, sleeping - its all got that damm nagging pain.

Yeah, that sounds pretty tight alright LOL!

Oh, here come the excuses for why I'll win at zones...
:thhbbb: :D ;)
Seriously dude...I know what it feels like...it's just grating...try ice...works for me. Or heat and then ice...always ice it.
Both the back and groin are loosening up a bit, to the point that at Wed workout I did some breastroke with my dollar-store dolphin kick. I wasn't getting much propulsion (at all) from the kick, but at least it helped me swim with proper timing. I plan to push it a bit more at Sat distance workout, cross your fingers for me.
part IV: pushed off tonight and threw my back into a nice spasm...I'm really happpy right now as you can imagine...:frustrated: :frustrated: :frustrated: :frustrated: :frustrated: :frustrated: :frustrated:
Hang in there SS! We can limp into the pool together.
I think my finger is broken. It's still swollen and sore since jamming it on the wall in my last 50 free. Happened last year to the same finger too ...
I just missed 3 days of swimming because there are no public pools in Buffalo that are actually open for lap swimming in the afternoon. Now, the kids are on spring break ... My ankle is sore from running too much in the absence of swimming.
And, oh joy, spring allergy season is right round the corner.
