Ok so I miss the NY Aqua fit spring Fling b/c of stomach virus at the weekend. I sneeze and threw out my back yeserday morning and now am staring NEM or more accurately NO-NEM in the face. I'm gonna be a bad tempered breaststroker if I can't make it to NEM. Whine, whine, whine, whine, I agreed to sore knees, sore shoulder, manky ear, brittle hair, cold water induced atrophy, blocked bugle, stinking like clorox, and looking comical doing fly. Why I gotta have lower back issues too? :'(

"Ugg ugg ubba rubba gug ug" Translated" Bork look, a mammoth...go kill it!! Hey thats not nice now Rich....I wished you a speedy recovery didn't I? ....And I tried to bond with you spiritually about the whole sneezing thing! But you keep trying to turn my posts into some kind of a twisted Gieco comercial. Even though your mean I still wish you the best at NEM (see what a nice guy I am!).....Like David Barra said (and I have said too)...think about Winston Churchill and don't surrender this meet mentally now over a sore back....You will probably be fine in a few days with some back rubs, tiger balm, and/or icey hot.....I like those icey hot patches....Have you ever tried those? You can find them at Walgreens....Slap a few of those babies on your back and feel the instant gratification dude! Those things are awesome! Newmastersswimmer
  • There sure are a lot of busted up people from a relatively "easy" sport :rofl::rofl: and have I also been doing it wrong? Is it not a "contact sport?" It's a train wreck here on the masters forum. I would just like to know if there is one person that can say they are not currently seeing at least one person on the team I mentioned earlier: orthopod, ART therapist, chiropractor, PT, pain doc, ENT doc, eye doc, massage therapist, yoga instructor, etc. Or, if you're not seeing any of the above, should you be because you are whining and complaining about some acute or chronic injury? Anyone not on advil, muscles relaxers, pain killers or other stuff? Anyone? Some whippersnapper out there that has no injury symptoms? Breaststroke kicks are far worse than fly arm injuries IMHO.

Jim and Dave thanks for the kind words. No need for stiff upper lip...we've got stiff lower back LOL Well I'll see how my swim goes tonight. If I have to do all free then I will. Supposed to do fly tonight. I'll have to limit it to trying to do SDK's... Jane I think it was all the all the tree to tree stuff that caused the problem ;) LOL

Ok so I miss the NY Aqua fit spring Fling b/c of stomach virus at the weekend. :'( And I was looking forward to meeting you. Sorry to hear of your woes....apparently there's not enough lard in your diet. By the way....you guys are just plain silly...Bork's not a caveman...he's a mountain man. I was going to include this in the nutrition thread...but didn't want to cause too much disappointment. :D www.mountainvittles.com/
  • swim stud, I went to the the spring fling meet with my back problems. I hurt it doing SDK a week before the meet, but I went anyway since I don't get to many meets. It loosened up enough that it wasn't a big problem. Actually took another second of my 100 free. I hear your aggravation though!!!!!!!! It was a great meet. That pool is awesome.
  • I am not currently seeing or using any of the below listed for swimming related problems. I have in the past for shoulder problem incurred 2 years ago and last summer had to see a chiropractor because I tweaked my back while changing into my suit for a workout. Right now, the back is fine and the shoulder though a bit weak does not hurt, even after workouts like today (400 yds of fly). It's a train wreck here on the masters forum. You are being sucked in by The Bork- you must remember that he is a advance unit of a intergalactic cyborg race who has entered the past to sabotage Earth's chances to develop a true civilization worthy to join the Federation in the future. Trust him not. And Rich is British, almost as bad.

Ah Carrie, don't be alarmed by the species of Canadians who habitate just to the north of you, they resemble nothing so much as people from, say, Ohio- with a consuming desire to consume all the doughnuts in the world. No, we Western Canadians are tree-hugging unreconstructed savants, out to save the world and squeeze a swim in somewhere.

Rich, I threw out my lower back, shoulders and neck once from a big shiver. It hurt to pucker up from a prone position the next morning to kiss my husband goodbye. I haven't had back problems for a whlie (knock on wood), but I found great relief with a chiro who used the Activator method of adjusting. Instead of great big bone crunching adjustments, they use a little padded clicker that produces a directed force on individual bones, nudging them back into place. It's painless and soundless. If you go that route, you want to find someone with an advanced proficiency rating. Here's their website: http://www.activator.com/ Heal well.

Doesn't that count as a pain med or muscle relaxant?
