Ok so I miss the NY Aqua fit spring Fling b/c of stomach virus at the weekend. I sneeze and threw out my back yeserday morning and now am staring NEM or more accurately NO-NEM in the face. I'm gonna be a bad tempered breaststroker if I can't make it to NEM. Whine, whine, whine, whine, I agreed to sore knees, sore shoulder, manky ear, brittle hair, cold water induced atrophy, blocked bugle, stinking like clorox, and looking comical doing fly. Why I gotta have lower back issues too? :'(

You are being sucked in by The Bork- you must remember that he is a advance unit of a intergalactic cyborg race who has entered the past to sabotage Earth's chances to develop a true civilization worthy to join the Federation in the future. Trust him not. And Rich is British, almost as bad. Don't listen to the Northern Proloterian overlord quicksilver....He'll have you believing things like Money has no real value and crazy stuff like that....In the far distant future we may not need money (of course I wouldn't really know for sure now...uhumm...just guessing of course..LOL!)....but for now, its best to simply ignore the ramblings / pontifications raining down on us from the Northern Hemisphere IMO...LOL! And yes, Mountain man is a better description of me than caveman (Britons!) I see you read my suggestion about Lard to supplement our diets after long workouts...LOL!! Newmastersswimmer
  • What about the beer, Poolraat? Doesn't that count as a pain med or muscle relaxant? It's a sleep aid. Wine is better though. A Cabernet or Pinot works great.
  • I've found my thread!! I feel all your collective pain! Actually, I don't literally, since I was too sick to swim more than token yards, but I'm getting better now and running and swimming, so I'd better watchit! I'm going to send the healing vibes to you now, Rich and I hope you feel them and return to full strength--and the same for all who are hurtin'. Here's a little ditty to ... I don't know... comfort? amuse? you. Injury blues: Woke up this morning hung over from pinot noir... Tried to pop an advil but I strained my arm... Got myself a thrown out back just lettin' out a hack... Got those old injury blues... .... Get better quick everyone or I'll actually put out a utube of me singing this. btw, Swimming is very much a contact sport--look at us all contacting one another about all our aches, pains, and ailments. ;)

I'll take that into consideration Bork. Although I've never been that far North...some of the best comedians on the planet hail from that part of the galaxy. (Peter appears to have a great sense of humor.) You and Chief Wounded Knee too. And yes...lard is the ultimate cure all for everything internal. (Duct tape is for the outer extremities ...and car repairs.) Please don't tell me you that have duct tape on your vehicle. Lastly...I don't know why there are so many on the injured list. You'd think swimming has become a contact sport. :D
  • It's a sleep aid. Wine is better though. A Cabernet or Pinot works great. I guess that's why the breaststroker I know that drinks pinot grigio is doing so well now. :thhbbb: At least I know his Canadian training secrets. And Poolraat, you shoulda seen an ENT doc when you had that ultra prolonged trouble with your bugle. I am glad your shoulders are healthy. We all know what that's due to. ;) FindingYourInnerFish: Exactly! At least we have each other to complain to! I'm sure I got my prior sinus infections from (S)he-Man. In fact, I'm pretty sure I blamed her back in Dec. or Jan.

Whoa, with so many having so many body problems, it might be safer to be in an Amtrack Train Wreck. Sneezing and throwing out your back, Swim Stud? Well I have one for you. I coughed so hard one of my lungs left my body, but I grew another one this afternoon; maybe that's why my 1 mile time today was so slow. And I can positively attest that people from Ohio are donut addicts; there is an entire family of them here and they go for donuts, pizza, peanut butter, cheesecake; never seen them eat a vegetable. There sure are a lot of busted up people from a relatively "easy" sport :rofl::rofl: and have I also been doing it wrong? Is it not a "contact sport?"

Swimming isn't full contact? Maybe that's what I've been doing wrong ... Swimming fly sets in a crowded lane can be quite the obstacle course.
  • Whine, whine, whine, whine, I agreed to sore knees, sore shoulder, manky ear, brittle hair, cold water induced atrophy, blocked bugle, stinking like clorox, and looking comical doing fly.( After 20 months of masters swimming and six months on this forum, I have concluded that swimming is an extremely dangerous, injury ridden sport. It has this reputation as being a low impact, easy on the joints kind of sport. But when you actually see an orthopod or other doc type and tell them you're a swimmer, they start shaking their head. Besides, any sport that gives you all the above conditions or causes people to subject themselves to comical embarassment, outlandish unpleasantries (like 30 shots), boring RC exercises or purchases of electronic zapping devices and various nutritional supplements and myriad eye drop medications is insane. Migawd, I think we all have CDB -- chlorine damaged brain. Especially those joining LBJ's Open Water Army. I can only assume that we are all either masochistic by nature or no good at any other sport ... When is NEMS?
  • New Englands is--gasp, sweat--next weekend, beginning the 23rd. Rich, you had better be there, popping Advil with the rest of us!

Lastly...I don't know why there are so many on the injured list. You'd think swimming has become a contact sport. :D It was contact tonight when I got whapped in the bugle while I was warming down. Nice lady...did apologise at the wall.
