Ok so I miss the NY Aqua fit spring Fling b/c of stomach virus at the weekend.
I sneeze and threw out my back yeserday morning and now am staring NEM or more accurately NO-NEM in the face. I'm gonna be a bad tempered breaststroker if I can't make it to NEM.
Whine, whine, whine, whine,
I agreed to sore knees, sore shoulder, manky ear, brittle hair, cold water induced atrophy, blocked bugle, stinking like clorox, and looking comical doing fly.
Why I gotta have lower back issues too? :'(

Take a good rest and keep positive. I'm rooting for you!!!
Thanks... :)
I just am hoping that I'll be able to swim now...training has been totally derailed since mid February for me.
Both the back and groin are loosening up a bit, to the point that at Wed workout I did some breastroke with my dollar-store dolphin kick. I wasn't getting much propulsion (at all) from the kick, but at least it helped me swim with proper timing. I plan to push it a bit more at Sat distance workout, cross your fingers for me.
Be careful, Peter, fingers crossed could be another "ouch" the way things are going for you .
WellI'm 70-80% better. Not up to competition but I think I'll go do 1000 easy to keep loose and stretch today. The difference from yesterday is amazing.
Yeah! You will be good for meet, just continue to take it easy.

Well I went and did 5x 500 pushed myself on set 3 and 4...felt good. No flips...back don't like it.

Yeah me too. I first scan the area to be sure there will be no one looking before I dare do my, um, butterfly ... perhaps butterfly is the wrong word for it, it is more like a moth, maybe more like a grub of some sort.

I think my finger is broken. It's still swollen and sore since jamming it on the wall in my last 50 free. Happened last year to the same finger too ...
I'd have it X-rayed and looked after.
Funny thing happened to me (so this is not really the proper thread but just a follow-up) three/four years ago, I also broke by finger (left-hand middle one, if memory serves) jamming it. It was splinted and bandaged/tied to the ring finger and I did swim a Masters meet with it like that. I did bring the attention of the organizers to it, so that I would not be DQ'ed for "using a quasi-webbing device between two fingers". "No problem," they said. "Whatever advantage you gain, will be more than offset by the loss of flexibility".
I can't remember now how I did.

Stay away from the flips if they hurt your back. 5 X 500 with a sore back is great. You should probably use some of this 'sore' time to incorporate into your taper. What I mean is do't push it too hard. Work on your technique and don't stress your body. Good Luck :)

Hehe I agree but I only do 2500 3x a week... not much point in tapering too greatly. I need some exertion this week. Next week I ease of down to 1500 a session. At this point....it is what it is. ;)
