Last years time was 54.4. (Still ...a 54.9 is fast.) Anything can happen in a backstroke race. One miscalculation on the flags can mean precious tenths. On a side note ....the womens 200 free was a finish to right down to the last stroke. (Four ladies to within 4 tenths of each other.)
  • hi peter, i struggle with my weight it bounces all over the place today i weighed 204 at the meet i was hoping to weigh under 200 ande Ande- all this really fast swimming is all well and good, but what we really want to know is...how much do you weigh today? Meant in jest, of course, but one of the issues that comes up during taper and into a multi-day meet is how easy it is to repack on the pounds when your mind is telling you that you deserve all sorts of comfort foods (& fluids).

that would make for some awesome splitting Ande! Something in the 48.5 ish range perhaps.....I also agree that if you laid back a half second or so on the first 50 of the 100 fly you would prabably have come back 1.5 to 2 seconds faster on the second 50.....At least you are getting a learning experience out of each swim (even if you split it wrong this time).....I still think 53.1 is pretty smokin fast none-the-less.....but a low 52 (or high 51) would put you right at the top of the heap in that event for our age group....Good luck in the 100 free!! • Then there are those despicable types who seem to be able to sin without regard for such considerations... You almost make me feel guilty as I sit here eating my dinner of take out Chinese, washing it down with dark beer.:thhbbb:

Ande- you're doing a lot better than me at this moment. This is a common theme for a lot of us, so we are cheering for you on that front as well. Then there are those despicable types who seem to be able to sin without regard for such considerations...

Only feel guilty if you suffer no weighty consequences. Or perhaps, yes, that's it, it's like in The Picture of Dorian Gray, those skinny types all have a portrait up in their attic that shows the real avoirdupois gained from their gustatory gluttony to suddenly become reality one day.
  • Ande wrote ages ago that you want to lug less lard, but remember fat floats at least ...
