100 Fly:
45 Rasmussen, Ande 43 Longhorn-ST 52.70 53.18
24.16 53.18 (29.02)
Ouch. Looks like Ande paid the price for taking it out fast.
This is almost identical to his race last year.
100 fly last year I went 53.3 out in 24.2 back in 29.1,
It is still a pretty fast time though IMO. With that kind of speed on the first 50, maybe he can go 51 or so by zones? I recall that Ande doesn't swim a lot of butterfly in practice? I think you can be in really great freestyle shape but still not in such good butterfly shape (once again IMO)....but who knows? Good Swim Ande!....at least you went for it and didn't hold anything back!

Nice swim by Ande in the 100 back:
34 Rasmussen, Ande 43 Longhorn-ST 54.97
26.44 54.97 (28.53)
Not sure what his goal was, but a sub 55 second swim looks pretty solid to me!
thank you, I'm pleased with my 100 back
last year at this meet I went 55.8
then went 54.4 at zones
earlier this season I went 56.2
so I'll take a 54.9 100 bk
btw I spoke with one of the judges at the meet,
I told him that I got DQed in the 50 fr
he said they no longer call back heats if someone false starts.
They just DQ people at the end of the race.
I also described what I did and he said
I probably wouldn't have DQed you for that.
When the judge DQed me I just said OK.
didn't want to make a fuss or protest it
there's other 50's
today time trialed a 50 free and went 22.58

Ande,
I sorry you got dq'd for a false start. That's a tough call.
I'm a starter and I hate starting 50's because everyone is so keyed up and ready to launch. But you must have caught the eye of both the referee and the starter or the dq wouldn't have happened.
Just as a side note; if a swimmer is dq'd for a false start when I'm the starter, I always feel that if I had done a better job it might not have happened. I do a mental self analysis to see if my voice or timing may have precipitated the early movement.
I'm glad you're haveing a good meet in spite of being sick.
I wish you the best for tomorrow's 100 free. HAMMER IT!
thanks
I hope to have a good swim
I think I've been racing the kids instead of swimming
my race the way I know I need to swim it to do the best time
Like tomorrow, on the 1st 50 of my 100 fr
I need to be relaxed and hold back a little
go out around 23.4 - 23.7
then on the 2nd 50
turn it on
hammer it home and
attempt to do the 2nd 50 under 25.0

I remember back in the 80's (now I'm really starting to sound like an old fart) in that same pool at USMSSCNats I flinched and the guy next to me took off and got DQ'd. It's like such a temple to swimming or something that the small gets magnified, haven't felt the same elsewhere. I imagine it features in the GoodSmith's dreams every night.
